Historia
Even after the legendary evacuation from Dunkirk in June 1940 there were still large British formations fighting the Germans alongside their French allies. After mounting a vigorous counterattack at Abbeville and then engaging a tough defense along the Somme, the British were forced to conduct a second evacuation from the ports of Le Havre, Cherbourg, Brest, and St. Nazaire. Case Red captures the drama of the final three weeks of military operations in France in June 1940.

A disappointing slog
Revisado: 04-23-21
For a book that purports in it's lengthy intro to explore the Fall of France in a manner unseen thus far, that portion of the book is little more than a reading of troop movements that are nearly impossible to follow in audio form.
Despite it's supposed focus, the author spends significant time exploring the combatant's pre war industrial programs, and this is where the book was at its best. Afterward, however, it devolves back into detailed troop movements with limited context or interest to all bit the most die hard military enthusiasts.
The conclusion of the book also goes beyond the usual consensus of appeasement failing against the Germans, and condemns labor activists, students, and many others in a rather blatant and distasteful political thesis.
I would not recommend this book for most readers.

Historia
Empire of the Summer Moon spans two astonishing stories. The first traces the rise and fall of the Comanches, the most powerful Indian tribe in American history. The second entails one of the most remarkable narratives ever to come out of the Old West: the epic saga of the pioneer woman Cynthia Ann Parker and her mixed-blood son, Quanah, who became the last and greatest chief of the Comanches.

Great book!

A fascinating and we'll produced history of the Comanche and Quanah Parker. Covers much of the history of the Indian Wars in Texas, and throughout explores the interesting facets of Comanche life on the high plains.

In terms of geopolitics, perhaps the most seminal event of the Middle Ages was the successful Ottoman siege of Constantinople in 1453.

Good overview, but distracting narration.
Revisado: 08-31-15
As a brief overview of the waning days of the Byzantine Empire this audiobook does well, but it is seriously hurt by the narration-- which features an incredibly distracting whistle in the voice. Very grating, although it gets better halfway through.

Historia
Of course,Paris was not destroyed before the Allies liberated it, but it would take more than four years for them to wrest control of France from Nazi Germany after they took the country by storm in about a month in 1940. That said, it's widely overlooked today given how history played out that as the power of Nazi Germany grew alarmingly during the 1930s, the French sought means to defend their territory against the rising menace of the Thousand-Year Reich.

Great overview, strong but not perfect narration.

Great overview, strong but not perfect narration.
Revisado: 08-12-15
A great overview of the Battle for France, with several more in depth portions regarding the Maginot Line, the Battle of Arrass, etc. Narration could have gone without the sort of cheesy fake accents, especially when the French ones sounded German.
