Historia
In 2019, Humans of New York featured a photo of a woman in an outrageous fur coat and hat she made herself. She instantly captured the attention of millions. Her name is Stephanie Johnson, but she’s better known to HONY followers as “Tanqueray,” a born performer who was once one of the best-known burlesque dancers in New York City. Reeling from a brutal childhood, immersed in a world of go-go dancers and hustlers, dirty cops and gangsters, Stephanie was determined to become the fiercest thing the city had ever seen. And she succeeded.

What a life!
Revisado: 07-30-22
I listened to this book because I love books read by the authors. I could envision her story but I now want the books because I want to SEE her story. All I can say is WHAT A LIFE! So fascinating! A great listen.

Historia
Ten-year-old Nem has just witnessed her mother's brutal murder and her life appears destined for tragedy. Until, that is, she finds her mother‘s old green journal which holds an incredible secret. This innocent looking book seems to contain the power over luck. As she uses it, Nem discovers the diary keeps a strange kind of karmic balance, that in gifting someone good fortune she must steal another's first. All it takes is a simple entry. There's dangers though, and not just for others but also for Nem.

How will these characters collide
Revisado: 03-02-20
I don’t like spoilers so I will be brief. The author does a great job creating the characters and you can feel their angst. As you follow the parallel stories, at times you forget that at some point their stories must merge but when they do, the game is on.

Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

Pulled me in to another time
Revisado: 11-06-15
This book took me back to a horrible time in history but made me look at it through the eyes of the women in the shadows. I don't like reviews that tell the whole story so I won't. I'll just say that it was the perfect blend of the reality and horror of war mixed with emotions of loss and love...and family. It was about family. I highly recommend this book and if done right, would make a great movie.
Let's just say that I looked forward to traffic and cleaning my house just so I could listen to my book.
