Revisado: 08-20-21
For as good as the Certain Point - Star Wars was this Empire Strikes back is terrible! The stories are boring. They force Rogue One additions into the storyline (which Rogue One happened before Star Wars NOT Empire Strikes Back) and everyone died in that mission so all the stuff Jyn Erso said would NOT be known to the Rebels. Also, don't stick LGBTQ storylines into a PG book. It doesn't bother me but I started listening to audible books when my son was about 10 and I would not have appreciated the boys kissing each other storyline. Not trying to take an anti stance at all - I just don't think it is necessary is a potentially children's book. I loved the first set of stories but this second one grasps for characters to write about. So much that they're writing about Bantas. And that bothered me, too. I didn't want to think about Luke's banta being pregnant or Han's a mom knowing they both died. Or Luke's gunner, Dack, who died. I cannot get into this anthology. I would rather re-listen to the first one than finish this second set of stories. Also, some of the narrators have no inflection and are very mono-toned.

Historia
When Olivia Bevelstoke is told that her new neighbor may have killed his fiancée, she doesn't believe it for a second, but, still, how can she help spying on him, just to be sure? So she stakes out a spot near her bedroom window, cleverly concealed by curtains, watches, and waits . . . and discovers a most intriguing man, who is definitely up to something. Sir Harry Valentine works for the boring branch of the War Office, translating documents vital to national security.

Favorite series yet
Revisado: 03-12-21
In past 5-6 weeks I have listened to Bridgerton and Rokesby series. And now this Bevelstone series. This book is my favorite of all of them yet! I was surprised by the kidnapping but it made a nice twist. It could have actually come a bit earlier and taken longer. And I Kept expecting Olivia to find the note he had received while at her house, maybe it had fallen out of his pocket while they were almost to home plate. I do find it funny none of the heroines are virgins by the time they marry. But. Super good book

But when he discovers that Georgie Bridgerton - his literal girl next door - is facing ruin, he knows what he must do.

More story needed
Revisado: 03-09-21
I read other complaints and I can agree that as the book stands - there wasn't much story. But why didn't the book include a Prologue of her kidnapping? I think it would have been quite interesting to hear. And did I miss Poppy giving her some sisterly advice on being Kidnapped?? Why not have Poppy tell Georgie about what happened to her in light of her situation? If Billie could tell her about the marriage bed. And do we every hear by the Bridgerton girls have boyish nicknames? Its a sweet story but dropped a few threads. (What was the fallout with the Professor that he yelled at to keep her from being bled? I would assume Georgie would have sat by the lecture window every day to pick up more medical info or helped him study for exams.)

Disappointed
Revisado: 03-09-21
I am not sure why I didn't like this book or storyline. It seemed very drawn out - most unnecessarily. But afterwards, I realized is it because of the narrator and not the author? After listening to 8 Bridgerton + 1 2nd epilogue book and 3 Bridgerton Prequels - (107 hrs in February and 44 already in March 3/9) all in the voice of Rosalyn Landor - It maybe because this narrator did not do justice to Miranda. She comes across as whiney and even slow. I wanted her to marry Winston first and then later on marry Turner (and Winston raising Turner's child). And did she ever tell her father she married? I don't recall her father being mentioned after she left for Scotland. I am always wondering at what point do Brits quit thinking at Scotland as another country? And the books make me all crave tea and shortbread (buttery biscuits).

So I enjoyed the first book so much I followed up with purchasing the 2nd book within a few days. In between I had listened to The Address: a novel I realized how similar book 1 and Address are. In Daughter, Eve did not seem like the same woman from book 1. She was weak and complaining. She did things that did not make sense - maybe to prolong the story, but in book 1 her actions were more logical. I did not like the Eve in book2. I also did not agree with her taking Patrick back or the way she treated him. She was very selfish. He was supposed to love modern living which had its benefits but he missed 1885 and she had no compassion for his feelings. I could not believe they took medicine and expected people to administer because she asked. And buying a ring on eBay was dumb. Why not take back uncut stones? Its like the book had a good outline but the fill was flat and done quickly and didn't give time to rise, I was disappointed Patrick didn't follow up on the Santa letters. I didn't like the way the Dr treated Eve or her son acted - just prolonged unnecessarily. There was a great outline and there was such a better book in the material than we got. I do not plan to read book 3 because I hope Eve goes back to 1885 and gets left there,

Perfect for Gen X Star Wars
Revisado: 12-18-18
This audible collection is great. As someone who loved Stars Wars since it was released, I highly recommend this listen. I enjoy listening to audible when I'm in the car, at work, at the pool, etc. I have told others that I know enjoy Star Wars, too. It is also something you can listen with your kids. Ep3 was one of the first things my son and I listened to and he really enjoyed it. (That has to be 10 years ago) I like audible in the car because I'm not missing out on a movie and it's not distracting. I wish the desktop version was easier to know which chapter you are on. So when I lose place - I can't just select chapt 10 because it just gives each chapter length and not a running total. The narrators do a fabulous job recreating the voices of the iconic SW characters like Leia, Han, Vader, as well as Bail. I honestly hadn't ever thought much about what was going on on Alderaan when it blew up until listening to this story. It also fits in nicely with the other audible SW books available.

Different Narrator Makes A Difference
Revisado: 07-26-18
I like Baldacci books and really enjoyed this set. But I have to say I would give Stone Cold only 2 or 3 stars out of 5. First problem is that the first two books have the same narrator and the 3rd book changes but it's a continuation of the 2nd book. It was like watching a Sean Connery James Bond marathon but the last movie is Roger Moore. Also the ending of Stone Cold was terrible. I am not aware that I listened to an abridged version but one previous review states that it is. That might make the ending make more sense because it comes out of nowhere. It is also possible that Baldacci didn't write the 3rd book but had a ghost writer which would also explain why it did not flow as well as the 1st and 2nd. It just had a different feel to it. I blamed that on the narration but maybe it was just poorly written. Not sure.

Historia
On October 30, 1938, rising radio star Orson Welles boondoggles the American public into believing that Martians have attacked Earth. With his clever adaptation of The War of the Worlds, the great showman proves he can get away with anything - maybe even murder. Minutes before the fictitious invasion goes live on the air, a dead body is found in the studio and the polarizing Welles is the obvious suspect.

I love the Max Alan Collins Disaster series. This one is really good but just a bit different than the others. I will now have to listen to the actual broadcast of Orson Welles.
