Historia
Cameron Hanes discovered his true passion for bowhunting when he was twenty. Inspired by the physical challenges of stalking elk in the Oregon wilderness—traversing mountainous terrain, braving erratic weather, and evading his quarry’s even more dangerous predators—he began an ever-evolving journey of self-improvement. To become the best bowhunter of wild elk, to the caliber he believed he could be, Cam realized he would need more than archery skills.

Great athlete, Terrible Writer
Revisado: 08-11-22
I really wanted to like this book. I love hunting, I love archery, I love hard workouts. But I couldn’t stand this book. Just hour after hour of Cam Talking about how much he didn’t about “the haters”. If he doesn’t care about the haters, why did I just listen to hours of whining about “the haters”?
Equally annoying was the lack of any substance to the book. I really enjoy hearing good hunting stories. I imagine Cam could have filled the whole book with hunting stories. Why didn’t he? It would have been much more engaging.
The book could have been about the mental shifts that take place allowing Cam to take on greater challenges. It wasn’t. Little substance. For a tough guy, the book was mostly Cam complaining about this slight or that comment that hurt his feelings…
The reality is, that telling people how tough you are is never going to make for a good book. The whole think felt like cashing in on his friendship with Rogan. Sounds like Cam is a great hunter, and even better athlete. The writing however, was painful. I’ll be asking for a refund.
Seriously Cam, I don’t care what your Instagram comments say. Why do you? And why did you fill a book with comments? Please try telling hunting stories next time.

The Red Circle: My Life in the Navy SEAL Sniper Corps and How I Trained America's Deadliest Marksmen

Historia
Brandon Webb's experiences in the world's most elite sniper corps are the stuff of legend. From his grueling years of training in Naval Special Operations to his combat tours in the Persian Gulf and Afghanistan, The Red Circle provides a rare and riveting look at the inner workings of the U.S. military through the eyes of a covert operations specialist. Yet it is Webb's distinguished second career as a lead instructor for the shadowy "sniper cell" that makes his story so compelling.

Great Life Lessons Within War Stories
Revisado: 08-28-18
The Red Circle is a phenomenal listen if you enjoy war stories. The intros to each chapter add a very personal touch as do the stories about famous seals revealed by the author at the end. Webb wrote and exceptional book and communicates his stories story in and exceptionally vivid way. (Webb achieves excellence in everything he does.) I loved hearing about how about the evolution of the seal sniper school under his hand. He also has a unique view on the war in Iraq due to his being deployed a year or two before the 9/11 attack.
The narration is fantastic regardless of what others say. The narrator keeps the story moving at a great pace and is very enjoyable. Should he have known not to spell out BUDS every time? Obviously. But anyone who is not a navy seal does not have the right to complain this minor detail.
The book does not teach you how to shoot like a Navy seal. That is not the books purpose. Rather the book tells stories describing the rigorous training that creates world class snipers.
I personally loved this book, even more than Lone Survivor. It describes principles that can be applied to any career and any set of goals, while being wrapped up in a wildly entertaining story.

Critically acclaimed author Keith Lee Morris—who has drawn favorable comparisons to Richard Russo and Richard Ford—delivers a stunning collection of stories. Through these tales of deep humanity, the flaws and strengths of young men are explored with remarkable clarity.

Collection of well-narated shorts
Revisado: 08-06-12
What did you like best about Call It What You Want? What did you like least?
The short stories in the collection are exceptionally well-matched to the gifted narrators. Each story is quite good on its own. As a collection, the whole is very powerful.
That said, there didn't seem to be a "theme" or oganizing principal for the stories nor was it immediately apparent that they were even by the same author.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
As I noted above, this is a collection of short stories rather than "a" story. I might have enjoyed more if there were a more obvious theme.
What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The narrators sound perfectly matched to the stories they tell -which are typically narrated in a first-person. The sense they convey is that they are separate people - each sharing their own truth.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Because this is a collection of unrelated short stories, not sure how it could be converted to a movie.
Any additional comments?
I wish there were more available from same author, I would definitely use another "credit."

Witty, Wise and Well-Spoken
Revisado: 10-27-04
While nothing in this book may be startling, the author does a very good job of presenting her material and illustrating her ideas with the real-life experiences of patients from her practice. The audiobook is presented by the author, who has a tremendous voice and a real flare for presenting her mateiral. I've read the book and listened to the audiobook. I prefer the latter and think this audiobook has something to offer everyone who feels "stuck" or who wishes to change something in his or her life. One of the better self-help titles I've read or listened to!
