Historia
Told primarily through conversations, The Tuesday Girl is raw, witty, emotional, and ultimately inspirational. Tanya takes the listener on intimate dates, walks with friends, and conversations with people in her life. She falls in love with someone who she is certain is different from anyone she’s ever met, only to discover that he is a conman. Through it all, she relies on her friend Erin and learns that romance isn’t something that just happens in books—it’s something that runs throughout your own life.

Everyone Needs an Erin!
Revisado: 10-06-23
"DON'T DO IT!" "YOU BIG FAT LIAR!" or "WAY TO GO!!!!" are among other things I wanted to yell out loud while gripping my steering wheel in traffic. I'm sure the cars around me thought me mad. I WAS mad! And sad, and hopeful, and delighted. Outwardly, it's an intimate peek into dating life for a woman over 40; the very real disappointment, false hope, unexpected compassion, and humor. But this book is much, MUCH more. It shines a light into the dark corners of deception, the courage it takes to be honest, and what it really means to be a woman. My biggest takeaways: Everyone needs an Erin, we often carry shame that doesn't even belong to us, that sometimes it's okay to just "be."

Historia
There are shelves of memoirs about overcoming the death of a parent, childhood abuse, rape, drug addiction, miscarriage, alcoholism, hustling, gangbanging, near-death injuries, drug dealing, prostitution, or homelessness. Cupcake Brown survived all these things before she'd even turned 20.

Masterful
Revisado: 05-19-23
I kept forgetting that I was listening to Bahni’s voice, not Cupcake’s - it was so genuinely performed. The story broke my faith in systems I’ve never questioned, and that is a good thing. I realize I can’t fully comprehend what life was like for Cupcake, I vow to look at life and my fellow humans differently. I am grateful I randomly chose this audiobook.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Historia
I did okay in high school. I had friends, dated, even made decent grades thanks to my brainy twin sister. But now high school's over. It's time to be a man...if only I knew how. I couldn't live by my stepfather's rules, so I flew the coop and landed at my genetic father's, in Spain. A whole new country for me to screw up in. So of course, I did. After I'd burned through a second family, there was nowhere left for me to go. Maybe I was destined to wander the earth - me, the homebody. Seriously, world. The joke's over.

A wonderful addition to my collection
Revisado: 11-09-18
M Garzon creates memorable characters. There were times I wanted to smack Seth upside the head and yell, what were you thinking? and then others when I wanted to shout, way to go! Each one with depth that reveals both the good and the not-so-good, and I love their complexity. This book exposes the WHY of our decisions, and sometimes those answers are painful and hard (finding out why his dad wanted him to come to Spain, finding out why his step mom stays in her marriage...). There is a rare honesty to this book that made me look forward to a long car ride so I could indulge!
Steve Campbell IS Seth. He flawlessly performed the angst, confidence, flaws, and innocent wisdom of Seth. Bravo on the many accents required, and just good all around story telling. Steve truly performed the book.

Historia
This tragic tale concerns two Jewish women living in Hamburg in Nazi Germany before WW2, Ellen Kaempfer and Betty Holstein, and a non-Jewish woman, Elfriede Mollenhauer, who tried to help them. Ellen and Betty were to be deported by cattle train, which meant standing room only, a journey that would take days. They were to be taken from Hamburg to a work camp in Poland, a journey without food or drink, with only a bucket for a toilet.

Heart Wrenching and Wonderfully Performed
Revisado: 09-07-18
The true experiences are almost unbelievable, but so relevant - we must not forget. Author Ellen Elizabeth Dudley captures the horror of lives torn by the ravages of war, and enduring hope. Narrator Veleka Gray was superb. She truly captured characters. This is an important story that needed to be told.

Historia
College professor Stephen Barlow needs cash. Badly. He puts his skepticism aside and signs on to a paranormal research organization in the hopes of scoring a fat bonus. Enter Chaythe Asylum: a long-shuttered and controversial institution where patients were allegedly subjected to unethical experiments. Stephen deems the old building, closed in 1989 after a series of grisly murders, as good a place as any to explore the possibility of the supernatural, and arranges to take a tour with his students. But it turns out that the asylum is not as abandoned as it seems. There is something sinister in the building.

Creepy Start - And More to Come
Revisado: 06-26-18
I thoroughly enjoyed this first book in the series.
I find it annoying when writers rely on cheap tricks to scare the reader or listener, like lots of gore, disturbing or shocking content. Ambrose Ibsen, however, knows how to tell a creepy story using good storytelling.
Joe Hempel is THE PERFECT narrator for this series. He did a fantastic job of breathing life into this story.
Content: minor gore, a couple of f-bombs and a few other swears. This won’t freak you out at night. Rather it is a great story that happens to be a bit creepy

Historia
The Bell Jar chronicles the crack-up of Esther Greenwood: brilliant, beautiful, enormously talented, and successful but slowly going under - maybe for the last time. Sylvia Plath masterfully draws the reader into Esther's breakdown with such intensity that Esther's insanity becomes completely real and even rational, as probable and accessible an experience as going to the movies. Such deep penetration into the dark and harrowing corners of the psyche is an extraordinary accomplishment and has made The Bell Jar a haunting American classic.

If you get through it, Bio is a must
Revisado: 03-12-18
This is one of the most depressing, hopeless audiobooks I've experienced. I nearly abandoned this audiobook about 3/4 way through. Though I'm glad I didn't, this was a tough one to get through. The writing is magnificent (why it has 4 "overall" stars). But I could barely stomach the story. The narrator was good, but the sardonic tone began to grate. I didn't care for the MC as her tone is hypocritical and self-righteous and disdainful. The writing is stellar and deserved a more subtle, nuanced performance. As listeners, we "get" it. As it is, the MC is 1 dimensional.
I am glad I listened to the biography. It explained much, and made me realize that one of the gifts from this author, is in making me uncomfortable and wondering if I really liked the story. Honestly, I loved and hated it all at once. And the narration was less heavy and didn't get in the way of it. I began to empathize with the MC, and the author after I listened to it.

Outstanding Performance, Unique Tale
Revisado: 02-21-18
I was hooked from the start. Lauren Ezzo performs this beautifully written, unique tale with captivating nuance. Ezzo is a masterful story teller, blending the art of pause, silence and characterisation that is superb. Masterfully written, M. Dressler honors the intellect of the reader and listener. This may be the best audiobook I've had the pleasure to listen to in the past several years. A real pleasure, a work of art, this is a must for every library.

Is Dan Stevens a God Fit?
Revisado: 10-07-17
It's not always the case that a recognized actor is also a great narrator. It is with the highest recommendation that I suggest this version of the Agatha Christie classic, and it is because of Dan Stevens.
I've listened to multiple versions and often more than once. Hugh Fraser is wonderful too, along with full cast dramas, and it isalways difficult not to compare.
Initially, it took a ome getting used to a new - to - me narrator. After my first listen, I am sure Mr. Stevens will go on my list of favorites.
