Incredible story but...
Revisado: 12-03-16
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes! I love the romance, character development & how the story progresses.
What other book might you compare Rise of the Defender to and why?
"The Wolfe" also by Kathryn Le Veque. These are some of her epic novels & classic Le Veque storytelling!
What aspect of Brian J. Gill’s performance would you have changed?
His performance & variation of the different voices/accents was very impressive to me. He did an awesome job - whoever edited the audio recording did not. There are several editing gaffs throughout the whole audiobook that really detract from the story; they are very distracting to the listener, which is why I gave the Performance only 3 stars. If I were Mrs. Le Veque I'd want my money back from whoever I paid to edit the audio, or demand they re-do it. (It's THAT bad Kathryn. I think the end Epilogue in the book is not in the audiobook; and possibly an important section of an early chapter in Act I where Chris apologizes to Dustin about the kitchen wench - that conversation is not in the audiobook but mentioned later on that it happened?)
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I wish, but it is waaaayy too long to do so.
Any additional comments?
I have read all of Kathryn Le Veque's books, she's my absolute favorite romance author and I've managed to get my hubby to listen to the audiobooks (he's not a big reader) & he really enjoys them. But this one he specifically asked me to write a review to let her know that several times he was about to give up on listening to it because the editing was so awful & frustrated him so badly. So just want to reiterate that the narrator was awesome, the story is top-notch Le Veque!!! (Editing shameful.)

Creepy, exciting fun!
Revisado: 11-18-15
What did you love best about Darkling, I Listen?
That it was a contemporary modern-day setting, but still back in historic England & ties back to Kathryn's other medieval characters from prior novels.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Darkling, I Listen?
The grisly murder scenes. The effect seemed more creepy & horrifyingly real listening to the audiobook vs when I read the novel. I usually don't have a problem with horribly violent descriptions when reading them in the books, but they bother me more when I hear them read in the audiobooks for some reason.
Which character – as performed by Brian J. Gill – was your favorite?
Scarlett had great personality!
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
That moment when Archer realized Scarlett & her girls were in danger as they fit the serial murderer's victims. I kept thinking "Get there faster!!!" when he was racing to them.

What made the experience of listening to Serpent the most enjoyable?
I love love the story!!! And the action, battle-strategy is awesome! It evenly balances the romance of the characters.

Jordan - she's smart & has all the answers & just loves & accepts her family as they are.
What about Brad Wills’s performance did you like?
He did a great job with all the different English, Welsh & Scots accents!!!

Politics, strategy & love! Oh my!
Revisado: 08-13-15
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Yes because it was a good love story much like Romeo & Juliet but with a happy ending! Love conquers all!
What other book might you compare Spectre of the Sword to and why?
Romeo & Juliet because Rhys & Isabeau were not supposed to fall in love. And they think they are going to die together at the end.
What three words best describe Daniel Dorse’s performance?
Out of place. I've listened to other audiobooks by him, same author & I love the author's novels. He has a nice voice, but I felt it was way too mature sounding for the younger characters, & the recorded pace is way too slow in my opinion. The only way I could listen to it was to speed it up on my kindle. The slow pace & his older voice oftentimes came across to me as overly dramatic & not quite fitting the "voice" of the novel.
Did Spectre of the Sword inspire you to do anything?
Sadly yes, to pay attention to the narrator before buying future audiobooks. I just really don't like listening to his narration for Kathryn Le Veque's novels. I just don't think they fit well together.

Great Author & Great Narrator!
- De Melba S. Zuniga en 04-06-14
Awesome narration!
Revisado: 08-10-15
What did you love best about The Dark Lord: Book 1 in 'The Titans' Series, Volume 1?
I loved how Ajax De Velt was redeemable. I liked how the author showed his character's arc in the story come full circle. But that he also still had to deal with his ambitions and some demons from his past sins.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
It was very satisfying & loved the happily ever after. Complete closure to everything!
What about Kiff VandenHeuvel’s performance did you like?
He was awesome! (I love this author Kathryn Le Veque's writing, and I have read all of her novels, but this was one of my not so favorites by her. Just because of the gruesome violence that was very realistically incorporated. It had to be terrifying to live back then. It reminded me very much of Vlad the Impaler.) But the narration made it less gruesome & terrifying in my mind, to hear the "bad guys" as human. Kiff did a spectacular job with his voice inflection & varying each of the men's voices to sound so different, but naturally. It makes me want to listen to all the audiobooks he's narrated because he did such an incredible job!
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I just enjoyed the moments where despite Jax's rough & gruff bark, Kellington could tame the savage beast in him. He knew it, she knew it & he knew she knew it. But she wasn't manipulative with that power. So I liked their little interplay moments where he'd snap at her but she'd get him to do what she wanted anyway.
Any additional comments?
Even though I had already read the book a long time ago, I couldn't wait to listen to Kiff VandenHeuvel's narration of it! His performance really lured me in & couldn't wait for more!

Classic Le Veque romance!
Revisado: 07-24-15
What did you love best about The Fallen One?
I like that the premise was different with a disgraced knight & his struggle to move on with his life. This isn't your typical Hero gets the girl romance.
What did you like best about this story?
The knights from the previous Dragonblade novels! I love it when characters from Kathryn Le Veque's other novels pop-up for cameos!
What about Tim Campbell’s performance did you like?
He's not my favorite narrator of Kathryn Le Veque's novels, but I felt he did do a good job of differing the voices with tone & inflection. You could distinctly hear the difference between the sisters & various knights.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No it's too long but the story is easy enough to pick up from where I left off.

Loved the story & the Narrator was awesome!
Revisado: 07-02-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes I would recommend this as it's a great love story with romance & adventure. But also because the narrator did an amazing job with all the various voices! It was very entertaining & he did the story & characters justice!
Who was your favorite character and why?
Carrington because she was brave and I liked how through the story she matured.
Have you listened to any of Brad Wills’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I think this is the first narration I've heard by him. Many times I'm a little disappointed when listening to the audiobook because I've read the novel before, and in my head I hear the characters differently. So when I heard his narration & all the voices, he was incredible! He did an awesome job with different voice inflections & accents! And the dialogue between characters seemed to flow seamlessly!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No as it's a long novel & a lot of details to soak in.

Great adventure! I wish this was a movie!
Revisado: 05-19-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
It's a great story that weaves between modern contemporary times & the nostalgia & romance of the ancient Egyptians.
What did you like best about this story?
The characters & their love story & the action - all of it!
What about Leslie Wadsworth’s performance did you like?
I liked how she did the male voices. It took me a little while to get used to her voice. I've been listening to all male narrators before this audiobook, so it was a little adjustment for me, & her voice is very smooth/polished. It reminded me of a pre-recorded voice message like you'd hear in an elevator or something. But I appreciated how she did the various voice effects like when they were speaking/shouting from far away or on the phone or over CB radios in the story.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes! I wish I could have!

So good I want to listen again!
Revisado: 05-14-15
Would you consider the audio edition of Evenshade to be better than the print version?
No but pretty close!
What other book might you compare Evenshade to and why?
Kathryn Le Veque's other contemporary novel "Purgatory" because it involves the supernatural with ghosts & spirits too.
What does David Brenin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He did an awesome job conveying the emotion in the dialogue between the characters! I really felt he was in touch emotionally with what each of them were feeling when he spoke their lines.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Did the spirits of the Salem witches really die?
Any additional comments?
I love the novel & the audiobook was great to listen to! Totally kept my mind engaged & listening for more even though I know how the book ends.
