Historia
Korrash, an adventurer from the kingdom of Eastmere, is bored. In the weeks since the pitched battle with the Ghoul Nurse-matron, he’s cleaned up so many vampire infestations that he’s on auto-pilot. He’d rather be out honing his heroic magic into something truly legendary. Occasionally, he remembers that his name is Arthur Mallory: a real person with a family, and maybe even some friends. Trapped in this virtual world, his attempts to log out have ended only in failure and migraines. He must embrace every source of power he can find if he expects to stop them.

More worldbuilding, more mysteries
Revisado: 05-20-21
Once again this series left me very uncomfortable, but in a good way. the author has this way of blurring the lines of reality and game that genuinely scares me, and i just had to listen through to see how the situations would get resolved. it was genuinely captivating!
the story keeps its darker undertones while still giving us another dive into this whimsical world! the main character felt more mature in this book, definitely more confident.
But there is one thing that irritated me quite a bit, and that was the narration. Usually i am fan of Christian's style, but this one was.. i just that i wanted to like it.
there are more than a few instances where his voice is layered on top of itself, when for example a crowd is chanting or some other things singing, and that just blasts your ear with this sudden incoherrant noise shouting, before returning to his usual calm tone. and in couple other instances there were characters with heavy accents, and i could barely make out a word.
beyond those issues, i would recommend this book! the story is captivating and fun, and i cannot wait for the next book!

Historia
If Arthur Mallory plays one more steaming pile of garbage disguised as a virtual role-playing game, he might hang up his gaming hat for good. When he discovers the new “deep dive” game Worlds Unbound, he decides it might be worth a try. The magic system has him hooked. He’s willing to overlook the mangled sleep schedule and crippling nightmares if it means feeling that power running through his veins. But when an accident leaves his headset broken, he realizes he might be cut off from the magic - and the game - for good. He’s not going to let that happen.

Dark fantasy indeed
Revisado: 04-15-21
So yeah! Ooh boy! This takes a really dark turn on the litrpg genre.
Overall the book was brilliant! A good mix of deeper, darker moments and the main character being a nerdy goof.
There were a few moments in the book that got me genuinely cringing! Not due to bad writing or anything, but just to the realization that if i would be put to the situation, i would be trying the same thing!
In my opinion the author has a good graps on what is trendy, and makes a good job at adopting it into his own world.
The game system is really freaking complex, and it has some annoying parts, like constant updates on skill successes and failures, but i don't see a reason to deduct any points from anything that minor.
TLDR: Great book, great laugh, great mystery, can't wait for the book 2!

Spicy memes, Good character growth, Engaging story
Revisado: 02-18-21
It is hard to say whether I preferred this book over the first one or not. The Occultists worked well as a standalone book, but it was nice to get back to the world nonetheless.
Overall the story picked up nicely after the first issue, and moved throughout the book well. Especially I enjoyed seeing the character growth that Andrew had. Turning him from the big bad evil guy of the first book into a well-rounded character with his own perspective was a difficult job, which the author nailed. It was easy to go from hating him to understanding his motivations and in the end, forgiving him for the things he pulled off in the Occultist.
It would've been 5 star review all around, but there were a couple of things I didn't like.
First one was the overabundance of memes. It was a nice touch to add some humor into the book, especially after the more serious first book, but this time it went just a bit overboard. You just couldn't escape them. But on the other hand they were mostly cleverly written in and didn't seem to be too out of place, so it was fun to catch them. Not a big issue in of it's own, but still something I feel was worth mentioning.
The second point was the characters themselves.. I already touched Andrew briefly, but I need to talk about our other two main characters. The thing that frustrated me to no end was the constant bickering between Lilian and Damien. It is a bit harsh to deduct points, even from this, because I completely understand where both of the characters were coming from in their arguments and even more so, I have to remember that they are still teenagers, and characters in a book without access to the information I have as a reader/listener. So It was understandable why they were arguing, but the problem I had is that there was just a bit too much of it in the end.
But still. Overall this was a very well written sequel to a book I didn't expect a sequel for, and I'm looking forward the third installment!

Historia
Joe has started to draw attention to himself and his abilities. While some of the attention is good and allows for personal growth, most of it is from various organizations that feel threatened by the sudden upswing of power that Joe's guild - The Wanderers - is attaining. As the threat to Earth begins to reach its peak, all of humanity has a choice: flee to Eternium, or stay for an uncertain future. Some stay, some go, some don't make the choice quickly enough.

voice changed, so what?
Revisado: 07-16-20
it sure took some getting used to to the new narrator, but after 20 or so minutes i was already past it.
however i was a bit disappointed how he did dani's voice, but oh well.
this book, more than any other in the series felt more like a setup than a story on its own. but as a fan of both of autor's series, im just pointing out easter eggs happily. solid book all around
