Beautiful story

I was totally absorbed by the story which was gentle and touching.
The narrator read beautifully, but I was somewhat irritated by the mispronunciation of most of the South African words, names and places and especially by the mispronunciation of the name of the languages; Afrikaans. I am South African and felt that a bit of research should have been done on how to pronounce all the South African words, as well as the Italian Opera arias and singers that were not read correctly.

What did you love best about Americanah?

Being South African - stories about race touch a nerve and I therefore found the descriptions of racism in America so interesting to read. There are so many similarities in what is suffered in our country and in what this story was about that it touched me very deeply.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The 'heroine' Adichie. She is so real and the novel felt like an autobiography. I identified with her continuously and felt every moment she talked about.

Which scene was your favorite?

A Scene in a hair salon where she is having her hair braided. This is not something that many white people think about, how painful it is having your hair continuously pulled and the descriptions of the people in the hair salon were wonderful.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, not really. It is a book that touched me deeply and made me feel very emotional so that I sometimes needed space between listening to chapters. But I finished it in four days, so I did not need too much space.

I highly recommend this book.

Harry Bosch in top form.

If you could sum up The Black Ice: Harry Bosch Series, Book 2 in three words, what would they be?

A gripping story.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Black Ice: Harry Bosch Series, Book 2?

"It felt like the detective bureau had become a fish bowl, and he was the only one in the water". I love Michael Connelly's descriptive writing, it brings the whole story to life.

What does Dick Hill bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Dick Hill has a wonderful gruff, detective type of voice and he makes Harry Bosch seem very real.

I really enjoy this series and would highly recommend it for people that enjoy listening to a story that they want to stay up late to finish.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and often simply could not stop listening.

I loved the regional accents done by the narrator and the novel was easy listening that completely caught my attention.

This is chick-lit but I loved it.

Slightly Ho-hum

I was quite excited to listen to this story having loved the two Bridget Jones movies, but not having read the books.
I found the story fairly boring with many moments being taken up with boring reading of Twitter comments that made me want to fast forward.
The story is very similar to the first but without the freshness and surprise that the first story gave us. I generally felt that the author was attempting to make some easy money out of a stock type of story.
The reader was ok but not wonderful.

Good start - became boring.

I enjoyed the first chapters of this book and rather liked the narrators. I found the concept interesting but it was as if Paulo Coelho ran out of inspiration and decided to write about sexual fantasy. I found some of it fairly nauseating and otherwise was simply bored. I really wanted the book to end. I would not really recommend this book.

Best night 's sleep

I often suffer from insomnia and when I use this evening meditation, it is so relaxing and I enjoy an excellent sleep.

Interesting concept

This story was very well read by Vincent Marcello who gave each character a different 'feel' so that the story came alive.
Having read all of John Grisham's previous novels, this one was slightly disappointing for me as it did not quite grab my attention in the way his stories usually do. I found the concept of the story interesting but it was not quite as captivating as I had hoped.

Peaceful and uplifting start to the day

I listen daily and will listen again next year. The way this is presented with a daily reading and then short discussion is just long enough for daily encouragement with excellent Biblical references and easily understandable commentary.

I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for comfort and guidance.

Bob Souer has an easy voice to listen to with a lovely mellow timbre.
