Butchered names
Revisado: 01-25-25
I finished the book in hard copy from the library. I could only take so many butchered Barbaras and Rogers before I started hating everything. Speak with an accent all of the time or none of the time. If you’re going to choose the accent, DO IT CORRECTLY.

Historia
When retired FBI Agent Patrick Henderson calls in an 'X-Ray Sierra India' incident, the operator doesn't understand. He tells them to pass it up the chain till someone does. That person is FBI Special Agent Kimberley Reynolds. Leaving Quantico for snowbound Northern Wisconsin, she finds that a tornado has flattened half the town—and there's no sign of Henderson. Things soon go from weird to worse, as neighbors report unsettling sightings, key evidence goes missing, and the snow keeps rising—cutting off the town, with no way in or out . . .

Awkward accents and badly written characters.

This was just terrible. I love this series and this is one we should pretend doesn’t exist.

Awesome story, great narrator, not a great work for an audible book
Revisado: 09-14-22
This review is going to seem a little strange, because I absolutely loved the story, and loved the depths in this one. There was so much going on, I really couldn’t figure it out until the end. The narrator is incredible, I always enjoy his work. However, this was the single most annoying audiobook I’ve ever listened to. If I wasn’t so engaged in the story I would have returned it in a heartbeat. Listening to Twitter conversations being read is the most annoying thing I’ve ever had to endure. Constant at signs, timestamps and dates— oh my God I wanted to put Q-tips in my ears.

Odd choice but I LOVED it.
Revisado: 03-01-22
Let me start by saying the narrator is one of my favorites of all time. That being said, it seems like an extremely odd choice to have an American reading in an American accent play a British man. The colloquialisms he uses just sound strange read with an American tone of voice (mum is just weird in midwesterner). A lot of the other characters, in fact all of them, are all British and they all have wonderful accents. It was just strange! The story was amazing, I can’t wait for the next to be just as weird in terms of language and just as wonderful in story.

Historia
The orphaned Elsie Camden learned as a girl that there were two kinds of wizards in the world: those who pay for the power to cast spells and those, like her, born with the ability to break them. But as an unlicensed magic user, her gift is a crime. Commissioned by an underground group known as the Cowls, Elsie uses her spellbreaking to push back against the aristocrats and help the common man. Elite magic user Bacchus Kelsey is one elusive spell away from his mastership when he catches Elsie breaking an enchantment. To protect her secret, Elsie strikes a bargain.

Decent book but what the heck?
Revisado: 04-21-21
The storyline was definitely different and I enjoyed it. I have a HUGE issue with the audio— there is a back and forth between male and female narrators – which is totally fine— it was actually kind of fun at some points. BUT! The main character had a ridiculous Caribbean accent with only the male narrator and an English accent with the female narrator and it was so incredibly outrageously annoying. WTF?

Historia
A single mother turns up dead at the bottom of the river that runs through town. Earlier in the summer, a vulnerable teenage girl met the same fate. They are not the first women lost to these dark waters, but their deaths disturb the river and its history, dredging up secrets long submerged. Left behind is a lonely 15-year-old girl. Parentless and friendless, she now finds herself in the care of her mother's sister, a fearful stranger who has been dragged back to the place she deliberately ran from - a place to which she vowed she'd never return.

Good book, small annoyances
Revisado: 07-29-17
From a story stand point, I stayed interested and keep guessing until the end -- but that's because major bombshells were dropped every time the story made sense and you could piece it all together. It made it more dramatic yes, and but I just imagined a kid sometimes going AND THEN WHAT HAPPENED?!
As for the narration, I thought they did a great job. I was just thrown off by a detective... apparently the character was female (which was important to the story) but in the audio version the characters voice is definitely male. I was so confused I stopped the book and had to research online. I thought I missed a character somehow but they just r

Sixteen-year-old Starr Carter moves between two worlds: the poor neighborhood where she lives and the fancy suburban prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Khalil was unarmed. Soon afterward, his death is a national headline. Some are calling him a thug, maybe even a drug dealer and a gangbanger. Protesters are taking to the streets in Khalil’s name.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, I loved the story but the voices made me angry.
