A weak finale
Revisado: 10-27-24
This book didn’t grab me as much as the fest two. It was pretty preposterous that their group could head off in random directions with no idea where to go only to end up in exactly the right spot a continent and thousands of mikes away.
Ending was anti climactic

Historia
Lewis Gillies is an American graduate student in Oxford who should be getting on with his life. Yet for some reason, he finds himself speeding north with his roommate Simon on a lark — half-heartedly searching for a long-extinct creature allegedly spotted in a misty glen in Scotland. Expecting little more than a weekend diversion, Lewis accidently crosses through a mystical gateway where two worlds meet: into the time-between-times, as the ancient Celts called it.

Very slow developing
Revisado: 05-13-24
This book plodded along very slowly for me. I believe it was chapter 12 before it even started getting to the part of the story that might interest me, and even then moved very slowly for the first 2/3rds of the book before picking up a bit towards the end. Perhaps this was because it was intended to be the kickoff to a series of books, but I still believe that every book should be interesting to read in it's own right. This definitely wasn't the quality of the author's Pendragon series.

Much more action than the first book
Revisado: 05-13-24
I enjoyed the second in the series quite a bit more than the first, which plodded along slowly. There was no shortage of action in this book. At times, the solution to overcoming obstacles was pretty far fetched, contrived, and basically bordering on divine intervention. The villain/hero roles were pretty cliche and black and white. But you could connect with the heroes of the story and desire to see them succeed. I enjoyed the book overall.
