Felt disjointed.
Revisado: 11-09-24
I listened to the first three in this series and enjoyed them, but this fourth book in the series seemed disjointed. There was no real depth development of the two main characters. There seemed to be a bit more “caressing desires” and the hero (who was a minister) struggled to keep his desires under control. Then one scene talks about a bondage-like incidence - that part was weird.
But the hardest part was Lilly’s not-quite-2 year old. She could speak in full complete sentences and her voice sounded more like that of a 6 year old. I couldn’t imagine her as a 2 year old because of this. After getting 1/2 way through the book, I struggled to finish listening to the book. I ended up running the speed at 1.6 to get through it.

For me, it had too many other storylines trying to be told. Too many pieces to try and bring to a close at the end.

It was a slow moving story.
Revisado: 09-01-24
I enjoy hearing the history of the Old Testament come to life as it helps me better understand the Bible. I thought the author said that there were new scrolls that were found to support that Tamara had a life beyond being housed in her brother’s home, but I cannot find anything. I felt like the story was slow and not as spiritual as I enjoy, but I’m glad in the end, things came together.

Hang in through the first couple chapters.
Revisado: 05-16-24
I will admit, I was getting a little irritated with Gemma because she has so much hate towards Graham, but you don’t know why. That covers the first several chapters but then things start coming to light.
If you can hold on through those first several chapters, as always, the author provides a beautiful story ofpain, sorrow, love and redemption.
I am amazed at the authors ability to bring God into her stories that show his healing touch to the characters, but also it speaks to the reader/listener as well.
I am hoping that a third imposters book is on its way. I’m thinking maybe and Gemma’s new friend would make a very nice couple. 🤗

Witty, modern but still quaint
Revisado: 01-12-24
Slight spoiler alert - there is an extra marital relationship that takes place with a couple characters. This is the only part that isn’t my style. And all of her “romance” parts are well done as to appreciate what a woman of age feels and experiences within the early budding of a romance. It never crosses the physical lines of passionate kissing and embraces.
Beyond the extramarital stuff (which was necessary to the story line…hmmm, does it sound like I’m justifying why I continued to listen….
I did enjoy the first book in the series so much that I went for the second. AND I’m getting ready to download the third (hoping there won’t be any extramarital stuff but will deal with it if there should be).
I like the wittiness of these this author’s writing style and the plots are intriguing.
So both first and second books have had a nice combination of mystery, wit and a nice spice of romance.
Oh, I will add one other minor issue. In the second audio, I felt like the narrator lost some distinction in the voices between a few characters. It didn’t happen all the time, just on occasion but enough for me to rewind to make sure I understood who was talking. The narrator probably just needed a break either way a nice cup of tea and some sassafras (sp) biscuits.
I’m off to download the third in this series.

FANTASTIC!
Revisado: 08-16-23
I haven’t thoroughly enjoyed a book this much since listening through all of the Marion Chesney/M.C. Beaton books. This is the first I’ve listened/read from this author. I can only hope her other books are just as charming and witty. I did read one review stating there wasn’t any romance. There is nice, clean romance. If you you prefer steamier stuff, you won’t get it here BUT, it is still worth the credit.
All of the characters where wonderful. I thought the narrator did a great job, most particularly with the characters of George and Rose. Oh, I do hope the Author’s other books are just as good.

Historia
Since his return from war, the Duke of Ashbury's to-do list has been short and anything but sweet: brooding, glowering, menacing London ne'er-do-wells by night. Now there's a new item on the list. He needs an heir - which means he needs a wife. When Emma Gladstone, a vicar's daughter turned seamstress, appears in his library wearing a wedding gown, he decides on the spot that she'll do.

Odd Rating
Revisado: 04-18-23
I gave “overall” only because it is very sexually explicit and I prefer romances that are a bit “cleaner”. But in all fairness, I wish I would have read this as a young naive woman as it would have expanded my knowledge base of “0” to realizing there was more to intimacy then just “The Act”. But beyond my prudishness, this is one of my most favorite books. Why? Because it has great humor and a wonderful story of brokenness, healing and intense love.
I would love to hear from others of books that this author has written that has the same amount of witty humor and chemistry instead of needing to read through other steamy books only to find they don’t have the same level of sardonic but also tender humor.
I have read a few other steamy books but this is the only one I’ve read more then once because I love the story.

Surprisingly Good
Revisado: 04-16-23
It is my first time listening to this author’s writings. All three stories were interesting with the last one having personalities nothing like what one is initially made to think. I definitely plan on listening to another book by this author.
A few reviews mentioned having issue with the narrator but I thought he did very well.
