I love Dean Koontz, but this story was just okay. Didn't hold my attention as well as some of his others.

Excellent

This should be required reading in every high school. The stark reality of what others have to endure just because of their race, religion, nationality or any other number of factors is astounding. Although this book gives us a glimpse at the atrocities commited by some humans against others, it in no way can truly delve into the horrors we find ourselves repeating throughout history.
It is so easy for those of us who are lucky enough to have a stable life, to sit on our high horses and turn our backs on those in need. This book makes you see things from the other side. What if it were us being persecuted and driven from our homes? What would we think of those doing the abusing or those turning a blind eye and a deaf ear? I am a big believer in perspective affecting attitude. Here is a different perspective.

Never a doubt. Never a mistake. Always for justice. Never for revenge. She's the person you hire when you need something fixed-permanently. With a strict set of criteria, she evaluates every request and chooses only a few. No more than one job per country, per year. She will only step in if it's clear that justice will not be served any other way. Her jobs are completed with skill and precision, and never result in inquiry or police investigation. The Fixer is invisible - and quite deadly.

I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked this book. It held my attention and was very engrossing. The narrator's variations in voices was outstanding. I will certainly be reading the 2nd book in the series.

I haven't touched another person in three years. That seems like it would be a difficult task, but it's not. Not anymore, thanks to the internet. My anonymous clients spend thousands of dollars to watch me take my clothes off for the camera. What they want, I give. Their secrets, I keep. Everything I tell them is a lie. Open the door to this year's most shocking thriller.

I could easily see this becoming a series along the lines of Dexter. I found myself hooked in the first 10 minutes. It does have a very adult storyline, but I am okay with that. It is what keeps it real; no fairy tale romance stuff.

Very informative. Gives you another perspective.

I can appreciate her honesty and owning her past. I know many people who lives their lives never admitting the bad times they had nor their mistakes. I also like that she doused the stereotypical ideas many closed minded, intolerant people spout. My husband worked with 4 men who were not legalized. They had been trying for years, with the help of his boss, to become citizens, but to no avail. When the back woods state we live in passed a law making it mandatory for an employer in this state to verify the legal status of any employee, he had no choice but to let them go or lose his business. They were good men. They worked hard, got along with everyone, didn't whine and YES they made a decent wage and paid taxes. Every "citizen" they have hired since then, except one, has not lasted because their work ethic sucks. They don't want to do their share of the work and either complain or take breaks A LOT. My husband and the owner both miss the guys and would hire them back in a heartbeat.

It makes you examine your own humanity.
Revisado: 10-26-16
I truly wish that stories such as these are required reading in school. While it is disturbing, it reaches that part of you that wants to hide from hatred and intolerance. You realize that people can be led, be it to commit atrocious acts against others or to their own torture and/or annihilation. We must remember that horrific events like this have happened. While we want to believe people are not capable of this, it is those small acts against others that can grow and fester into huge acts against humanity. Hitler started his rise to power by blaming the Jews for Germany's financial problems and convincing people that he could make Germany a great nation. I sincerely hope we never go down that road again.

I listened to this a quickly as my time allowed. The storyline is a bit difficult, but needs to be brought out into the light. Awareness and education is a key part in the battle against this epidemic. The narrator was wonderful. Highly recommend!
