Historia
Daphne always loved the way her fiancé Peter told their story. How they met (on a blustery day), fell in love (over an errant hat), and moved back to his lakeside hometown to begin their life together. He really was good at telling it…right up until the moment he realized he was actually in love with his childhood best friend Petra. Which is how Daphne begins her new story.

Lovely rom-com with lovely leads
Revisado: 04-26-24
This story hit me in all the feels. I’m not sure listening to it while PMSing was the right choice, but lots of laughs and tears. Characters I really cared about who were gently flawed. The narrator was awesome. I listen to a lot of audiobooks and can be very critical of their performances, but she did amazing. I was impressed with how her voice for Miles sounded masculine but not forced. I loved it all

Historia
For more than a century, some of the world’s most important thinkers and leaders—men like Arthur Conan Doyle and William Butler Yeats—gathered once a month and discussed the supernatural at The Ghost Club in London. In the early 1900s the club's chairman was Harry Price, the world’s most well-known ghost hunter. He and other members, like Harry Houdini, sought to debunk the charlatans who preyed on vulnerable people with fake seances, tarot readings, and spiritual encounters.

Enjoyable story

I’m admittedly a fan of Kate Winkler Dawson, but this was a nice, short listen. If you enjoy history and the supernatural, this is for you.

Historia
In December 1960, Crystal Singer, her boyfriend Rick, and three other MIT grad students take a cross-country road trip from Boston to Arizona to paint a message in the desert. Mars has been silent for thirty years, since the last time Earth solved one of the mathematical proofs the Martian civilization carved onto its surface. The latest proof, which seems to assert contradictory truths about distance, has resisted human understanding for decades. Crystal thinks she’s solved it, and Rick is intent on putting her answer to the test.

Lovely and engaging
Revisado: 10-31-22
It’s rare to read a book that fills you with hope while also grappling with the existentialism of life. The story is love, mystery, science fiction, math, and philosophy. My only criticism is that there wasn’t more to read.

Historia
Berkeley, California, 1933. In a lab filled with curiosities - beakers, microscopes, Bunsen burners, and hundreds upon hundreds of books - sat an investigator who would go on to crack at least 2,000 cases in his 40-year career. Known as the "American Sherlock Holmes", Edward Oscar Heinrich was one of America's greatest - and first - forensic scientists, with an uncanny knack for finding clues, establishing evidence, and deducing answers with a skill that seemed almost supernatural.

Fantastic! I couldn’t turn it off.
Revisado: 04-16-21
As a true crime buff, I love coming across new information. This book gave me everything I want in non fiction and true crime. An interesting and slightly flawed protagonist. Lots of intrigue, and a slow build of putting the pieces together. It was like listening to a lot of different mysteries all in one book.
The reading of the book was very well done. As a mom to two small kids, I don’t have as much time to sit down to read as I’d like. Audiobooks are so convenient and the reader makes all the difference. I was totally pulled in. Her voice is soothing without lulling you to sleep. She’s very engaging.
My only complaint is that it ended.
