I picked up this series because I LOVE Susan Stokers books. This series is done in her universe, so I was really excited to get them. Unfortunately, Lacy Laurel's "male" voice comes across as a nasally combination of valley girl and Mae West - not a voice I would ever associate with a strong alpha male. It was so horrible, I had a hard time getting through enough of it to leave this comment. Thankfully, I also purchased a Kindle copy of the book, so I could finish the story there. Alexander Cendese did a good job with the male voice, but even his female voice left a lot to be desired. It came across more as a whispery young girl. Not someone who is supposed to be a strong woman. The story itself was okay - but wasn't strong enough to outweigh the negative of the narration.
