Historia
Josephine's life story was as turbulent as the age, an era of revolution and social upheaval, of the guillotine and of frenzied hedonism. With telling psychological depth and compelling literary grace, Carolly Erickson brings the complex, charming, ever resilient Josephine to life in this memorable portrait, one that carries the reader from the sensual richness of her childhood in the tropics to her final lonely days at Malmaison.

Narrator terrible, book probably good
Revisado: 05-18-22
I struggled to finish this because I wanted the story and didn't have time to read the hard copy, but the lady's voice was terrible. Not one inflection in a 13 hour book. She could have been reading a grocery list. Words were precisely said, but no emotion, no nothing. Made what could have been a great book very boring

Heartwarming Christmas Story
Revisado: 01-08-22
There are a lot of books on here that have Christmas in the title, I guess because Hallmark is such a thing right now, but that actually have nothing to do with Christmas. This isn't one of them. This is a book to make you think about Christmas and children and family love. Enjoyed it.

Historia
When Jenny inherits her estranged grandmother’s cottage in Sherwood Forest, she has nothing to lose - no money, no job, no friends, no family to speak of, and zero self-respect. Things can only get better.... Her grumpy but decidedly handsome new neighbour, Mack, has a habit of bestowing unsolicited good deeds on her. And when Jenny is welcomed into a rather unusual book club, life seems to finally be getting more interesting. Instead of reading, the members pledge to complete individual challenges before Christmas.

Boring, I wouldn't bother
Revisado: 01-08-22
Shame that all they include in the supposed free books are terrible ones nobody wants to buy. I miss the old Romance Club you would pay for and listen to good books. I don't think I'll bother with any more of these. Story just rambled and had nothing to do with Christmas, so title was deceptive, just a waste of time

Boring
Revisado: 12-13-21
I listen to all types of books and as long as the narration is good can usually get into them, but this was a waste of time. I kept listening hoping a story would develop, but it was just rambling and boring. Don't waste your time.

Starts slow, but improves and is worth a read
Revisado: 07-12-21
I like this author's books, some more than others. This one is somewhere in the middle. The narrator's voice is a little annoying, probably suits the character, but made me doze off at times. The story was good over all and worth a read

Wonderful book
Revisado: 02-27-21
I loved this book, the storyline was great, just a sweet family story set in the England I love. Narrator was perfect for this, great accent, but easy to understand and didn't try to do weird things, just read with emotion, very nice. Great read

Historia
The incomparable master of the legal thriller takes us deeper into the labyrinth that is the American justice system, always drawing us in with an irresistible hook, pulling the thread of tension tighter and tighter, and then knocking us out with a conclusion that's never "by the book". Maybe that's why, after more than 20 years of consecutive number-one New York Times best sellers, a new novel by America's favorite storyteller is still a major publishing event.

Terrible narration
Revisado: 09-15-19
First book was good, so I was trying to do the whole series, but this guy's narration is so terrible I don't know if I can stick it out. He sounds ridiculous, can't concentrate on story because of it. He narrates the next two, so I don't know if I'll keep listening or not. Wish the first narrator had done the whole series Story was good, not great, but hard to tell with his halting, terrible narration.

Narrator ruined story
Revisado: 08-28-19
Should have stuck with Rosalyn Landor for narrator. The first book in this series was great all around, this one was hard to tell because the accent she used for the Scottish portion was terrible. She made them sound ridiculous, so it was hard to get past. If I had read this one first, I would never have done the second one. Suffered through it because I liked the first one so much.
