In a crowded courtroom in Mississippi, a jury returns a shocking verdict against a chemical company accused of dumping toxic waste into a small town's water supply, causing the worst "cancer cluster" in history. Not Up to Par
Revisado: 09-09-08
I've read or listened to every Grisham book, and rate this one near the bottom of the pile. The basic plot is classic Grisham, but the ending is not what you'd expect. What bugged me about this was that the plot devices he used to get to the resolution were deeply unsatisfying, and not believable in the context of the story. It was as if he got tired of writing the book toward the end and quickly resolved it without thinking about it too much.
Of course Michael Beck's narration was excellent, as usual.

Poor Audio Quality
Revisado: 09-09-08
This classic book is read with several different actors, which is nice, but the quality of their recordings varies greatly. The recording of Hester Prynne's voice is so poor that I can often not understand what she is saying. I recommend that you choose another version.

Not Funny or Insightful
Revisado: 11-12-04
I first listened to a George Carlin record in 1972. His commentary on Baseball and Football is a brilliant classic! When I got this latest book, I was prepared for some foul language and the typical anti-establishment rhetoric, but I also expected plenty of humor. I got none of it. He's sacrificed the humor for lame attacks on anything related to religion or American values. Sadly, he has no alternative view to promote, just pure hollow, amoral nihilism. When he got to the point of endorsing child rape, I decided I couldn't make it to the end of this one - a complete waste of time.

Hilarious
Revisado: 03-02-04
This novel was a very pleasant surprise. Grisham breaks out of all his molds and creates a lovable set of characters in a zany comedy. It was fun to listen to around holiday time, and may become a family tradition in my house.

My family (kids aged 11 and 9) listened to this book on a cross-country trip and enjoyed every minute of it. This is an excellent story, wonderfully written and read.

Practical
Revisado: 02-26-04
I work at a university, and this book has helped my department and several other as we strive to work as a team. It is practical and easy to follow. The five dysfunctions, when explained, are amazingly instinctive and obvious. Studying this book has helped my team tremendously.
