Historia
As a passionate advocate for mental health, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau believes that in order to know and accept ourselves fully, we need to understand why we think and feel the way we do, and recognize the experiences, attitudes, and patterns that may be holding us back. And yet, all of us are capable of growth and positive change, if we're willing to stay open and curious throughout our lives.

Comedic Honesty
Revisado: 01-10-25
I loved Sofie’s honesty and laughter, as she makes fun of herself, in pursuit of helping those who have not found an emotionally comfortable place in life. The little stories and analogies she tells helped to understand her concepts. I found myself looking forward to the next chapter every time. She has as beautiful voice, which makes this book more enjoyable.

Raised in the sun-drenched, idyllic world of Southern California and sheltered by her conservative parents, she has always prided herself on doing the right thing. But in 1965, the world is changing, and she suddenly dares to imagine a different future for herself. When her brother ships out to serve in Vietnam, she joins the Army Nurse Corps and follows his path.

A Very Compelling Story
Revisado: 11-15-24
The historical accuracy of this story really hit close to home. As a wife of a Vietnam era Army Vet and a resident in proximity of Coronado, California, it brought back similar memories and I found myself in tears several times. Especially at the disdain and rejection of our Vietnam Vets, and even more at those who were women. I thought I had reached the end of the story at several points, but was very pleased that it continued. This is a really good read (or in this case, listen).

Reality On Paper
Revisado: 06-28-24
I like how realistic the children were and how simple and true-to -life the plot is. Sudden death is so tragic and hard to accept, yet children are so adaptable.

Overcoming Our Inner Fear
Revisado: 05-24-24
Luke’s story about finding himself and his self worth was interesting. It shows how even if you are born riding the coattails of your parents’ fame and success there is no guarantee these will automatically be inherited by you. I was disappointed at the drama-less reading. It was too flat. A bit more enthusiasm in the reading would have made the book more adventurous and funny.

Alaska: Educational, Yet Entertaining
Revisado: 05-03-23
Michener weaves history, geography and other educational themes with interesting stories of some of the people who inhabited and traveled to Alaska during the span of many generations. He intertwines stories of adventure, fortune, love and loss intricately, yet with a simplicity that makes it easy to. understand. The narrator reads this book in a quiet soft voice which makes it a perfect evening relaxation activity.

Historia
From June of 2019 until his firing by President Trump after the November 2020 election, Secretary Mark T. Esper led the Department of Defense through an unprecedented time in history—a period marked by growing threats and conflict abroad, a global pandemic unseen in a century, the greatest domestic unrest in two generations, and a White House seemingly bent on breaking accepted norms and conventions for political advantage. A Sacred Oath is Secretary Esper’s unvarnished and candid memoir of those extraordinary and dangerous times, and includes events and moments never before told.

Great Insight
Revisado: 03-27-23
This book gave me great insight to the workings of our military, how hard it is to be apolitical, and how they are under-appreciated. I already know Trump is difficult and unreliable, but this book confirms some of the things I have heard. The book was an easy listen and very informative.

earth. Tragic, yet funny. As an American/Mexican I really appreciated that the Spanish words were pronounced in Spanish.

Very Scary Possibility
Revisado: 04-06-22
We think our democracy is so strong that nothing like this could ever happen in the United States, but the events of January 6th, 2021, are much too similar to what happened in this book. Very scary.
I absolutely enjoyed Clair Diane's reading of this book. She made me feel as if I was there with her.

Painfully Sad, Comically Funny
Revisado: 12-18-21
The story of a by-sheer-chance friendship, created in impossible circumstances. The way the science is explained makes it seem very plausible. I truly hope that if humans ever get to meet alien beings we can do it in the spirit of peace and cooperation the way Grace and Rocky did. This story made me both cry and laugh. Very enjoyable.

Historia
Donald Trump isn't a despot. But he is increasingly acting like the "despot's apprentice", an understudy in authoritarian tactics that threaten to erode American democracy, including attacking the press, threatening rule of law by firing those who investigate his alleged wrongdoings, using nepotism to staff the White House, and countless other techniques. Donald Trump is borrowing tactics from the world's dictators and despots.
