Historia
Once Donald Trump’s fiercest surrogate, closest confidant, and staunchest defender, Michael Cohen knows where the skeletons are buried. This is the most devastating business and political horror story of the century. As Trump’s lawyer and “fixer”, Cohen not only witnessed firsthand but was also an active participant in the inner workings of Trump’s business empire, political campaign, and presidential administration.

A sticky wicket.

I enjoyed hearing the full story of Michael Cohen and his relationship with 🍊💩. I think the bottom line is he should’ve listened to his wife and his conscience. Hopefully he will be fully engaged in doing that going forward. I listen to, and enjoy, his Mea Culpa podcast and must admit I’m appreciative that he did not narrate this himself. 😉

Historia
Cody Hoyt, while a brilliant cop, is an alcoholic struggling with two months of sobriety when his mentor and AA sponsor Hank Winters is found burned to death in a remote mountain cabin. At first it looks like the suicide of a man who's fallen off the wagon, but Cody knows Hank better than that. Sober for fourteen years, Hank took pride in his hard-won sobriety and never hesitated to drop whatever he was doing to talk Cody off a ledge. When Cody takes a closer look at the scene of his friend's death, it becomes apparent that foul play is at hand.

Many characters to track but worth it when you do.
Revisado: 03-04-17
I enjoyed both the setting and the deeply faulted Cody. The two teenaged sisters gave the story an interesting twist and focus. They were well depicted in my opinion. I've never had boys but the boy Justin seemed to me to be entirely unlike any boy of that age, 16 or 17, I or my daughters ever encountered. If one exists he should be cloned as soon as possible. Justin is full of insight, kind, very attractive according to the sisters, and mellow. Like I said if he exists clone him. All together this is an enjoyable thriller/mystery. The narrator did a wonderful job.

When Gage & Griswell's star litigator suddenly disappears - along with $5.6 million of its most important client's money - the assignment of locating both goes to Mack Malloy, a 50ish ex-cop, almost ex-drunk, and partner-on-the-wane at G&G. Mack's search takes him into the inner sanctum of his firm and through the shadowy heart of the city itself, on a path that soon runs him up against his longtime nemesis as he plucks the threads of a dangerous web of corruption, deceit, and murder.

The narrator does a decent job...
Revisado: 11-08-16
However, this is the type of book that, when I am reading in paper or digital form, I tend to make notes to help keep track of the characters. Pleading Guilty is not as overwhelming as some but the lawyers in the practice start to blend after a few chapters. The story isn't half bad but most certainly it is not even an eensty teentsy bit uplifting.

Heartfelt and inspiring.
Revisado: 09-29-16
Although it took a few chapters before I felt the flow I was thoroughly intrigued and entertained by the characters and their extreme honesty. This book tackles two very important subjects. 1. alcoholism and addiction and 2. pedophilia. I am actually amazed that a book based on these two huge, touchy, frightening, politically awkward issues would be so engrossing, educational and compelling.
Well done Bryce. You rock! :-)

Imagine: A boy with a gun waits for the man who killed his mother. A troubled detective confronts her past in the aftermath of a brutal shooting. After 13 years in prison, a good cop walks free as deep in the forest, on the altar of an abandoned church, a body cools in pale linen.... This is a town on the brink. This is Redemption Road.

Multi-faceted
Revisado: 07-23-16
Intense, gut wrenching, fascinating, frustrating and liberating when all is said and done. John Hart is amazing with his descriptive development of characters. It is beyond words, beyond my ability to explain... but somehow he is able to create sentences, paragraphs & chapters that flow with such grace that it takes almost no effort to read or listen. Not sure I am saying this well but I do love his books. And I hope there are many more coming.

I was reluctant to get into yet another historical novel however I'm incredibly grateful that I did. Yellow Crocus is sublimely performed, wonderfully written and a joy. I rarely give 5 stars but this story/narration deserves them. Bravo!

Historia
Justin and Libby Denbe have the kind of life you’d find in the pages of a glossy magazine: A beautiful 14-year-old daughter. A gorgeous brownstone on a tree-lined street in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood. A great marriage, admired by all. A perfect life. When investigator Tessa Leone arrives at the crime scene in the foyer of the Denbes’ home, she finds scuff marks on the floor and a million tiny pieces of bright green Taser confetti. The family appears to have been abducted.

Great mystery.
Revisado: 04-09-16
I really didn't know Whodunnit until almost the very end. I wondered a time or two but I really didn't believe the one who did it, did it. I do have one complaint I guess. the author used the word hence a little bit more frequently then would be used in normal language. I know that there are some people who will use a word like that and it's just a part of their vocabulary however at least three if not four or maybe even five of the characters in this novel used or thought the word hence. It just bothered me. Other than that I thought the characters were great, the plot really riveting and the outcome a little sad but truly superb.

Historia
On a night flight from London to Boston, Ted Severson meets the stunning and mysterious Lily Kintner. Sharing one too many martinis, the strangers begin to play a game of truth, revealing very intimate details about themselves. Ted talks about his marriage that's going stale and his wife, Miranda, who he's sure is cheating on him. Ted and his wife were a mismatch from the start - he the rich businessman, she the artistic free spirit - a contrast that once inflamed their passion but has now become a cliché.

what a bizarre baseline line for a story. somehow it works. there is a tremendous amount of intrigueand although I worried various points about one character in particular I ended up having to let go of that. I think it ended on a perfect note.

She was gone. Joe Pickett had good reason to dislike Dallas Cates, even if he was a rodeo champion, and now he has even more: Joe's 18-year-old ward, April, has run off with him. And then comes even worse news: The body of a girl has been found in a ditch along the highway - alive but just barely, the victim of blunt-force trauma.
