Historia
The last thing K-404 remembers is a happy home with the human child Ele, whose care is his primary purpose. So, when he wakes up in a landfill of tossed-away technology, his only thought is to reunite with his family. This world is not his own, though. It’s a wasteland of desolate buildings, flying metal disks, and monstrosities that keep themselves active by stealing another bot’s power. How did the world get this way? And why was he discarded? Hampered by imperfect memory, an obsolete body, and limited battery life, 404 sets out to find his home.

To be...or not...to be...
Revisado: 09-03-22
...human.
In a dystopian world where machines seek to conquer, where lies one android's loyalties? Lost Bits is a story of relationships...relationships lost and relationships found, told in a narrative that takes a number of unexpected twists and turns. The voices of well-defined characters will stay with you long after the story ends.

I really, really wanted to like this story...
Revisado: 04-07-22
...but...
1. It was billed as a cozy mystery. it is not.
2. Several loose ends left hanging. if those are supposed to be covered in subsequent books in the series, there was no indication.
3. 120 chapters? The chapter breaks every three or four paragraphs were intrusive.
4. The first person viewpoint led to uniform short sentences and pedestrian language.
5. Awkward appeals to heaven every dozen or so chapters. Spoken by a character who regrets only allying herself with a psychologically abusive man and not an immoral lifestyle.

When Fiction is Stranger than Truth
Revisado: 12-20-20
Confession time. Yes. I am one of the authors of this book. So why am I reviewing it? I met aBle Courtemanche four years ago and discovered he had written a page-turner of a thriller. (Still waiting for the sequel) He is friends with five other authors and proposed writing some flash fiction to help folks keep their sanity during the pandemic. And while their stories may just help you do that, I discovered some of my fellow authors are truly insane. Insanely good, that is. So, do you like mystery? The book has it. Romance? Got it. Horror? That, too. Inspiration? Yup. This book truly has something for everyone, and all narrated in the velvety rich baritone of Joseph Courtemanche.
