Important World War II History
Revisado: 02-21-24
With the growing threat of fascism in today's world, this book gives a frightening look at what it was like to live in the cities of Amsterdam under Nazi rule. I will not comment on any of the specific content so as not to anyone's read. The reader did a good job of what a reader does, which is to just read. Because of the nature of the story, there really isn't much place for expressiveness, personality, etc.

Historia
1992. All across the United States respectable, upstanding citizens are showing up dead. These deaths could be accidents, and they don’t appear to be connected—until a fatal fall from a high-floor window attracts some unexpected attention. That attention comes from the secretary of defense. All of a sudden he wants an interagency task force to investigate. And he wants Jack Reacher as the army’s representative. If Reacher gets a result, great. If not, he’s a convenient fall guy.

Refreshing humor is Elvis Cole
Revisado: 01-14-23
I had just finished listening to the latest Michael Connelly book which has about as much humor as a block of cement. Wile these stories are more cookie cutter Elvis Cole’s character sense of humor make it worthwhile.

Historia
A year has passed since LAPD detective Renée Ballard quit the force in the face of misogyny, demoralization, and endless red tape. But after the chief of police himself tells her she can write her own ticket within the department, Ballard takes back her badge, leaving “the Late Show” to rebuild and lead the cold case unit at the elite Robbery-Homicide Division.

Very disappointed
Revisado: 12-24-22
To me what was once a crafty, creative and entertaining series is now a cookie cutter formula product. Perhaps if I’d read instead of listened I’d feel different. The plot was a reflavoring of old dishes. The reading in character is awful and particularly bothersome.

Historia
As always, Reacher has no particular place to go, and all the time in the world to get there. One morning he ends up in a town near Pleasantville, Tennessee. But there’s nothing pleasant about the place. In broad daylight Reacher spots a hapless soul walking into an ambush. “It was four against one” . . . so Reacher intervenes, with his own trademark brand of conflict resolution. The man he saves is Rusty Rutherford, an unassuming IT manager, recently fired after a cyberattack locked up the town’s data, records, information . . . and secrets.

Historia
Reacher goes where he wants, when he wants. That morning he was heading west, walking under the merciless desert sun — until he comes upon a curious scene. A Jeep has crashed into the only tree for miles around. A woman is slumped over the wheel. Dead? No, nothing is what it seems. The woman is Michaela Fenton, an army veteran turned FBI agent trying to find her twin brother, who might be mixed up with some dangerous people. Most of them would rather die than betray their terrifying leader.

Disappointing
Revisado: 12-02-21
I’ll start off by saying that one of the things that I really like about all of the other Jack Reacher audiobooks is how the reader does his job. What really was a downer for this book was that it’s in the first person and hopefully will be the last one written in the first person. In addition, I felt like it was a redo of the last book I listen to which was “The Midnight Line”. Having a jack reacher audiobook read in the first person is right down there with having Tom Cruise portray Jack Reacher in the movies

Back when Harry Bosch was just a rookie homicide detective, he had an inspiring mentor who taught him to take the work personally and light the fire of relentlessness for every case. Now that mentor, John Jack Thompson, is dead, but after his funeral his widow hands Bosch a murder book that Thompson took with him when he left the LAPD 20 years before - the unsolved killing of a troubled young man in an alley used for drug deals.

Good story but let’s good readers to read it instead of actors to act read
Revisado: 11-21-19
This is a pretty good story but I must say that a big part of our attraction to Connelly's books is that we live smack dab in the middle of where Bosch supposedly lives so we go to a lot of the restaurants and places cited in the books. Meanwhile the readers sucked. I really prefer just someone who is reading it and interprets the characters just a little bit this was way too theatrical and annoying.

fabtastic.... I didn't want it to end. So much takes place minutes from my home.....we live in the hills about 7 minutes from Cole and we have a cat and a deck with a barbecue on it. Sometimes I'm a smartass sometimes a badass... well I was when i was young..... are you seducing forensic auditing and we used to chase bad guys at least on paper but their mindset was the same as a lot of Elvis Coles bads
