Good 1st book better sequel
Revisado: 03-13-24
The first book is good. It's well written, and same amazing performance but ultimately fell short. The main character was just punched down, never improving in any way. The new installment follows through on foreshadowed elements, starts setting goals, more world-building, and much better secondary characters. I know it's a cliche opinion, but the characters were amazing. I did like how the first book was brutal, to build Truth up, however it is hard to just read through all of that without letting up at all. It was necessary but depressing. So good job author.

Historia
Demons scheme in the shadows. A myth golem wreaks havoc across the continent. Trouble is brewing in the Yixine empire. All of these cataclysms are eclipsed by an apocalypse greater than them all—Neave's arrival at the capital. Torn between rehabilitating the profoundly sick cultivator society and wiping the slate clean, Neave gathers power on his journey to find the right solution. He grows suspicious of even his own thoughts, however, and it soon becomes clear that it won't be easy.

Much better than the first
Revisado: 01-28-24
More character development. I like how the direction the MC is moving towards. Marv still gets a lot of shit but in this one, he gets exactly what he deserves for the reasons he deserves it. The first book seemed to punish him for good decisions and not his bad ones. So far so good

Historia
Despite being a young master of the Zearthorn sect, Neave is not a cultivator. And if he can have his way, he never will be. Years of daily beatings, bullying, and abuse haven’t been enough to make him change his mind, and the ultimatum from his father won’t be either. Forced to choose between an arranged marriage and a path of cultivation, Neave makes a third choice. In a desperate, last-ditch attempt, he enters a secret vault and encounters a treasure. A book he should have never touched.

Needs more explanation on how their magic system works. Liked the overall story, but Marv feels a bit contradictory

Great series
Revisado: 11-03-23
Great world-building and writing. Does slow down a lot after the first book. Probably one of the only series where I liked the first book the most. The characters are all well-rounded and have more depth than expected. Did a very good job with Demis especially. Making her borderline unlikable and then allowing MC and her to grow closer was very natural and endearing. The same happened with Inferna and it wasn't as satisfying, but still interesting. Overall it's a great series.

Historia
Leonard Dunning wakes up in a home he doesn’t remember—and to a face in the mirror he doesn’t recognize. He soon discovers he attends Blue Cherry High with his best friend, Josh Bernstein, who seems to be the most popular boy in school, with several girls competing for his attention. As the girls collide and clash over the oblivious Josh, Leo realizes each of them displays quirks of characters found in an anime harem comedy. So if Josh is the story’s protagonist, what does that make Leo?

Pretty good
Revisado: 11-03-23
I like the whole story overall. There are a few things I dislike regarding the romance subplot. Almost all of it gets overly complicated and I can't say I hate it but it's not great. The meta-narrative portion of the story is incredible though. Never thought I'd enjoy that sort of narrative but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Sadly it does get pushed aside I disliked it later on.

Historia
Humans have been pushed to the brink of extinction by an ever-evolving demonic threat. Portals are opening faster than ever, Towers are bursting into the skies, and Dungeons are being mined below the last safe havens of society. The demons are winning. Quest Academy stands defiantly against them as a place to train the next generation of Heroes. The Guild Association is holding the line but is in dire need of new blood and the powerful abilities they could bring to the battlefront. To be the saviors that humanity needs, they need to surpass the limits of those that came before them.

Very well executed
Revisado: 11-02-23
Has many flaws I usually dislike in other works. I can't quite pinpoint why it doesn't seem like flaws in this work so I'll chop it all up to world-building and excellent execution. For example, the main character avoids head-on combat. Normally this is something I find annoying because it feels like the writer desperately wants to portray their character a certain way, despite how unreasonable it makes them. The reason it works here is because it created a reason to avoid combat while setting up a scenario where that outlook changes (reinforced by the combat-oriented setting, the obvious uses for MC's ability, and the pressure from acquaintances to move in that direction). Because of that and the good writing I can't help but be hooked. Seriously don't stop writing.

NTR

Good story didn't like the NTR subplot. Wasn't necessary for multiple reasons in the narrative.
