Historia
Young George Washington was raised by a struggling single mother, demanded military promotions, caused an international incident, and never backed down - even when his dysentery got so bad he had to ride with a cushion on his saddle. But after he married Martha, everything changed. With irresistible style and warm humor, You Never Forget Your First combines rigorous research and lively storytelling that will have listeners - including those who thought presidential biographies were just for dads - inhaling every word.

Great Realistic Biography!
Revisado: 04-27-21
A funny, well told, realistic biography. The performance and stories are fascinating and many haven’t been heard before. Unlike the bald faced myths espoused in schools to this day. you’re looking for an American propagandist fluff bio there’s a bunch written by many a self-aggrandizing white guy and you’ll enjoy them. These historical figures are complex flawed individuals back then as now and it’s good to have a well rounded view of them to better understand the hot mess we currently find ourselves in.

Historia
A down-to-earth global pop star. A deeply spiritual, cerebral powerhouse. A famously outspoken introvert. For her millions of fans, and the few unacquainted, defining rock luminary Alanis Morissette is an exercise in dichotomies and nuance. And though her most formidable traits are seemingly at odds with one another, they are, oddly enough, completely emblematic of all of us: complex, conflicting, and, most importantly, ever evolving. With her striking command of language and profound emotional fluency, the 46-year-old covers an enormous amount of personal ground with listeners.

Great music interview!
Revisado: 01-04-21
If you’re interested in Morisette and her life and music it’s fascinating. She has a great speaking voice, personality, and genuine wisdom. Makes me want to re-listen to her albums. She’s a person worthy of respect and not just for her music but because she’s worked hard to become a decent and kind human being.

Historia
Data is fundamental to the modern world. From economic development, to healthcare, to education and public policy, we rely on numbers to allocate resources and make crucial decisions. But because so much data fails to take into account gender, treating men as the default and women as atypical, bias and discrimination are baked into our systems. And women pay tremendous costs for this bias in time, money, and often with their lives. Celebrated feminist advocate Caroline Criado Perez investigates the shocking root cause of gender inequality and research in Invisible Women.

If you have a grandmother, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, or niece please listen to this. It’s not an overstatement to say how life changing this is and how far reaching it is. The reality is that we’re far far away from a society that is truly inclusive. The narration by the author is great and her voice is lovely and illuminating. She has the arduous task of talking about a subject that could be completely insurmountable and gives hope that a problem once acknowledge can be solved but that it’ll take time and great effort.

Among the missing is Emile Haddock, Lia’s uncle. What happened to the people of Limetown? It’s all anyone can talk about. Except Lia’s parents, who refuse to discuss what might have happened there. They refuse, even, to discuss anything to do with Emile.

Sad, but worth it
Revisado: 02-26-19
This was waaay, more depressing than I thought, but also maybe more real? or as real as magical realism will allow, lol.
Actions have consequences, and they're not always nice. A mom who made excuses instead of getting to the bottom of her daughter's trauma. A girl who ran away from it all in the form of arnish. Sisters who blame themselves for the bad things in the world
This is a story of regrets. for the things that happened, for choices made, for the people who come into these lives and can't be held on to tight enough.
But also love, and new beginnings and family--the kind we're born into and the kind we create.
definitely worth the read
