So good after such a long wait!
Revisado: 07-14-20
I am just so thrilled to have more Harry Dresden in my life! This book is everything I had hoped it would be and I am chomping at the bit for the next one. The long wait for this book felt like an eternity but finally having it feels like getting to visit a long, lost friend and picking up right where you left off without missing a single beat. Harry is back! That's all that matters.

I loved this book. The story and narration are so good, almost too good. I usually listen at night because I have insomnia. I couldn't do it with this one. i had to listen during the day. I couldn't stop once I started though! Can't wait to begin my next book by this author.

Another GREAT story from Marcia Clark!
Revisado: 04-21-20
I am a big fan of this series - of Marcia Clark, generally. I have been absolutely chomping at the bit, waiting for this book to come out. I pre-ordered my hardcover copy, my digital ebook and just picked up my audio book this morning. I don't honestly know if I prefer the audio to reading this one but they are both fantastically entertaining and were so worth the wait! This one has been brilliantly performed, as always. The voices are clear and crisp. I wear hearing aids, so I'm very particular about narration and every book in this series has been smooth sailing for me. That is rare but it leaves me able to swap between my books and audios rather than solely depending on my books, which I appreciate immensely because I'm severely visually impaired and audio is my preference when it is performed well.
The story itself is everything I had hoped! It even opens in my favorite place on Earth, where my husband and I created so many breathtaking memories. I enjoyed being taken back there while being drawn into the story I have been waiting so long for. What a nice bonus! No spoilers here, I'll not share. You'll just have to listen/read for yourself! You should definitely do so. In fact, if you are new to this story but are a fan of this genre or just curious about Ms. Marcia Clark as a writer of fiction - mysteries, legal thrillers in particular - you should go ahead and check out the entire series! You'll be so glad you did! I spent the past week revisiting the whole series in preparation for FINAL JUDGMENT and I loved every book just as much this time around as I had the last time. It's a fun, rollercoaster ride of a thriller series! There's something for everyone.

What a great listen! Fun and Informative.
Revisado: 03-24-20
It's rare that book intended to educate actually makes me smile and laugh so much along the way! What a pleasure this is to listen to. All materials meant to educate and inform should be this much fun. I am a bit of an amateur history and mythology buff and found this to be a terrific 'quick and dirty' primer on Egyptian Mythology. The information is spot on without being overwhelming and is delivered with just the right amount of humor. The narrator has a lovely voice and moves along at a comfortable pace. All-in-all, a very well done audiobook! (I did receive this free in exchange for review but that in no way has colored my opinion.)

Even the most incorruptible juror can be unwittingly influenced by others' opinions in the digital age, but more sinister forces are at work: Jury tampering has reached all-time highs. Unexpected verdicts are coming down more and more often, indicating that shadowy groups may be blackmailing jurors - and leaving the American justice system in shambles. Is impartiality even possible anymore?

I loved the premise of this story.
Revisado: 02-13-20
The story line itself is different, inspired and fresh. The concept of professional jurors as an attempt to battle corruption and tampering was fun to watch build.
There are layers of subplots in this one and our Author does a great job of keeping them all cohesive, cleaning them up and bringing them home all tied up in a bow at the end while leaving readers with just enough remaining questions to think there might be room for at least one more book.
While I enjoyed the story, the narration fell flat for me. I hung in there only because I'm too visually impaired to ditch the audiobook and swap over to the ebook but I've no doubt at all that reading this one should be exponentially more pleasant.
In books that are this current, there just isn't any excuse for mediocre to poor narration. The proverbial bars were raised, envelopes pushed, boxes broken and thought outside of such a very long time ago. Good narrators are basically voice actors in addition to the many other hats that they wear.
This just pretty okay audiobook should have been excellent. The author is well seasoned and I found the story lacking not at all but for this painfully flat narration. There was little inflection. I could barely identify some character changes but for context, not even gender changes. It was just difficult to navigate.
Those of us who truly rely on narration due to various disabilities live in a world where a beautifully produced audiobook is everything. For a little while, it puts us into a space that isn't really attainable through other methods. When it is disappointing, it is very much so.
I'll give this book a C but it should have been an A, truly.

I struggled with how rushed and forced this one felt. It seemed as if we were being subjected to an ethics lesson rather than a piece of fiction I normally read or listen to for a bit of escapism.
It was okay but it was just okay.
