A little hard to imagine - very complicated surroundings
Revisado: 12-20-21
Good story, amazing narration but I just couldn’t imagine what Scott was trying to describe. Up down, oval, 3 miles down, river under/over giant platinum deposit.. very, very confusing.

Looked for excuses for long drives… this story had my attention! I have no negatives but one comment… why are all the perfect lovers found only in novels? Excellent story- had no idea who the bad guy was!

Chapter 10 - where is this going? What's will all of the tennis club details? Where's the thread with the disappearing mom? Sorry, not for me. The narrator was amazing!

A good read (listen), not Chamberlain's best
Revisado: 09-21-21
The story was good, kept me listening but I had a little difficulty with the narration. The woman reading (there are 3 different ones), had a very hard time keeping her accents straight. Sometimes Nando sounded Spanish & sometimes Indian. Stephanie (adult) sometimes sounded like a 5-year-old. The "bad" guy Roy, always came on so freaking loud my earbuds would pop out (almost).

Historia
Best-selling author Diane Chamberlain delivers a breakout book about a small southern town 50 years ago, and the darkest - and most hopeful - places in the human heart. After losing her parents, 15-year-old Ivy Hart is left to care for her grandmother, older sister, and nephew as tenants on a small tobacco farm. As she struggles with her grandmother’s aging, her sister’s mental illness, and her own epilepsy, she realizes they might need more than she can give. When Jane Forrester takes a position as Grace County’s newest social worker, she doesn’t realize just how much her help is needed.

“Page Turner”…. Couldn’t stop listening!
Revisado: 09-11-21
Horrible to think how we “civilized” people can treat other human beings - this isn’t a true story per say but is definitely a true issue that existed… and not so long ago at that. This story was so well told and the narration was amazing! Will definitely look up Chamberlain for other good reads.

Disappointing for a Robin Cook novel
Revisado: 08-21-21
This story is about the how medical claims are handled and how the insurance company is handling these claims. Very little is medical or about the particular virus EEE.
The narrator(s) should learn how to properly imitate a French accent. Sometimes the accent would be British, sometimes even German but as a French speaking reader, neither readers got the accent event close.
Also, too many unnecessary details about the environment… pointing out to Jeanne the hazards in the road that’s under construction…
I’m halfway through & will not finish this novel - kept reading in hopes that something medically spectactular would come about but it’s all about insurance.
Very disappointed in R. Cook…

Historia
George Wilson, M.D., a radiology resident in Los Angeles, is about to enter a profession on the brink of an enormous paradigm shift, foreshadowing a vastly different role for doctors everywhere. The smartphone is poised to take on a new role in medicine, no longer as a mere medical app but rather as a fully customizable personal physician capable of diagnosing and treating even better than the real thing. It is called iDoc. George's initial collision with this incredible innovation is devastating.

Not Cook's best
Revisado: 05-08-21
Story dragged... too many details. Anyone could tell who the bad guys were right from the start. The worse for me was that the main character was early 30's but from the narrators voice you would think he was in his 70's. Very good narration but the voice didn't fit the character.
I read to the end because I had nothing else to listen to on a long drive!

Historia
An online video of a girl clawing at the ceiling of her own grave could be the worst thing FBI forensic psychologist Zoe Bentley has ever seen. Perhaps even more disturbing is the implication of the video’s title: “Experiment Number One.” Zoe and her partner, Special Agent Tatum Gray, work as fast as they can to find the monster behind the shocking video, but soon another one shows up online, and another girl turns up dead.

The narrator was trying too hard to produce different voices. As for her Aussie accent - not working for her. Bugged me so much I couldn't get into the story.
