Let me first say that I have zero interest in Norse mythology. I took a chance on this book solely for its 90+ hour length, and wow. I've been an active Audible member since 2007 and this has got to be one of my all time favorite books. Definitely gets a spot in my top 5 list. Not a book for kids, so I don't recommend listening in the car with kiddos. Fantastic story and narration.

Yes.. one of the main characters is VERY whiney in the beginning, but this is only the first hour or so. After that, frikin-a this is one of the best stories of this genre I've ever heard. The characters are great, got goosebumps numerous times throughout the story, and man, the last 4 hours of the book, my goodness man. Smh...just...man..lol. Give it a shot, you won't regret it. Got the other 2 books in the series on lock already, and going to snatch the 4th book as soon as it comes out next week. Looks like yours world is going to be my life for the next month or so. Peace out civilized society 🤘

Listen man, I've listened to quite a few books since joining Audible. This has got to be, by far, in my top 3. It has an air of humor in nearly every sentence, even during trivial points in the book, like when he is simply stating the name of the fluidics. Great book all around, and I think this kicks Mogworld out of its spot on my list and surpasses it. I can also say that if anybody else narrated the book other than Yahtzee, the charm and true comedic elements of the story would have never translated as perfectly. Awesome book, excellent narration. This would make an incredibly successful Pixar movie in my unlicensed, unprofessional option. But only if Yahtzee was given the opportunity to act as a few of the characters, especially the Dr... Hell don't even get me started on the way he paints Dr. Diadleree's (probably butchered that) character. Frikin brilliant man, frikin brilliant. Love this dang book.

Im not sexist! Jk...no seriously though...

Begins early with an example referencing Doctors and Nurses, or should I say, male doctors and female nurses. Then goes on to describe how doctor's expect to be right and nurses expect to be wrong. Continues with a disclaimer stating she is referencing the doctors and nurses roles rather than their gender, but then goes on to detail multiple examples of how immaturity and aggression are associated with masculinity, and patience and compassion are associated with femininity.
(Eluding to the fact that we should all act and think in a way that is more feminine, rather than act in a way that displays integrity, honesty, humility and emotional intelligence)


If you see those character traits and associate them with a gender rather than a way of being, that's not the most educated way to convince your reader that you're not sexist and it's definitely not the best way to prove the validity of your stance.

Narrator was great though! :]

WHERE THE HECK IS PT 2!?!?

I baught this book on a whim. There were no reviews, and i didn't see any other work from the author on Audible, but man what a great choice. I was drawn in almost immediately, and the story and characters were both entertaining and believable. That's also the damn problem! By the time the book is over, you're so damn invested, you're left ripping out your hair screaming for the second book! >_< Noooooooooo Amon Kenzakiiiiiiiii!!!!!!

Movie was way better.

I loved the movie so much i wanted to check the book out. Boy was i disappointed. Opportunities to really paint an awesome picture were tossed aside in 5 seconds with almost 5th grade level story telling. Like when they are touching down for the first time on the bug planet, the writer could have easily created an awesome, tense, and exciting picture describing this event, but instead ended up going, "Then we launched.....then we were on the ground"...Not the exact words, but i promise you, im not exaggerating. Kinda disappointed.
