basic sensational scare tactics
Revisado: 08-27-08
This book had a few interesting points such as how the record industry has been hurt by the internet, but the rest of the book was just a collection of the latest headlines over the past few years; the dangers of pedophiles on the internet, the scourge of internet gambling, the potential lack of privacy and ID theft, etc. the biggest joke of the book though was how the author kept talking about how the internet was ruining the American way of life, but the author was from England and had married an American woman and moved to the US, he had no claim of America or the American dream. I would would not recommend this book, to ones ided and negative.

Historia
In the snow country of Japan during World War II, we meet Morie Sawataishi, a fierce individualist who has chosen to break the law by keeping an Akita dog hidden in a shed on his property. By the time of the Japanese surrender in 1945, there are only sixteen Akitas left in the country. The survival of the breed becomes Morie's passion and life. Devoted to the dogs, Morie is forever changed.
In beautiful prose that is a joy to read, Sherrill opens up the world of the Dog Man and his wife, providing a profound look at what it is to be an individualist in a culture that reveres conformity, and what it means to live.

The Ankh-Morpork Post Office is running like...well, not at all like a government office. The mail is delivered promptly. Postmaster General Moist von Lipwig, former arch-swindler and confidence man, has exceeded all expectations - including his own. So it's somewhat disconcerting when Lord Vetinari summons Moist to the palace and asks, "Tell me, Mr. Lipwig, would you like to make some real money?"

definitely worth a listen
Revisado: 12-11-07
I wanted to listen to this book before the movie hits this week. The book is very good and suspenseful. I think that considering that this book was written in the 1950's it still translates well to modern day and it really makes you think about how likely it could be that an epidemic could wipe out everyone today. Get this book if you like suspense.

A new way of looking at things
Revisado: 09-04-07
I work in an academic setting in which I develop and implement social programs, part of my job involves working with people who do evaluations of my programs. This book really opened my eyes to the ways in which data can be useful, misused and how looking at the data from a different direction often leads to the truth about what is really creating change and results. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in what all the data we get everyday really means.

This book truly disappointed me after I had read Success Principles by Jack Canfield I expected more, I was basically very bored with the stories and examples. I wanted something that could help me get more excited about where I work and those I work with. I would not recommend this book to others.
