Historia
After he died, conman Jake thought he made a good deal with the System. Turns out, the System swindled him. He woke up in an upside-down world with four furry legs and the powers of a mind-warping necromancer at his hoof tips. Humans are the servants, farm animals are the demon masters, and amid the mayhem, Jake finds meaning in his new life. Building out a barnyard kingdom and ritualizing the remains of his foes makes for some pretty sweet fire-breathing abilities.

Meh…It’s pretty tasty
Revisado: 03-17-25
Jake is a mobster or he was. Now he is running for his life. He was a schemer, he made things happen or made people think thing had happened. Jake’s latest escapade was to steal from the mafia to impress a girl. All of his scams, he has been able to get away with, without too many consequences. This time, there was escape, no talking his way out of what he had done. Jake had used the don’s daughter to get work his way into a card game. Not the worst thing, he had done, but robbing it, was probably going to be the last thing he has done.
They caught up to him, four big goons and him. It was not looking good. They beat on him and the next thing he knew he was being carried. Jake tried to give them money, his side business, anything to live through it. The thugs just laughed and then, then they threw him off a roof. Jake saw a message that said earth phase ending, shuffling options. The system offers Jake to be a floater. He immediately thinks of a toilet, but the System corrects him. He would drift between realms and report back to the System. Jake decides that is not for him. After much back and forth, Jake asks for a somewhat important position in the world and if he can see Maria again. The System makes a compromise, if it agrees with Jake, will he accept the System’s assignment? He agrees. The next message he receives tells him he is Demon Spawn Level 1 and he is a goat. And so it begins….

Historia
Pete is a simple man who enjoys a good drink amongst good friends. Not too much to ask, right? Now, he's trapped in a fantasy world far from home, stuck underground and inside the body of a smelly dwarf with fantastic facial hair. The worst part? The swill that the dwarves are falling all over themselves to drink. It's flat, it's watery, and it has the alcohol content of a rancid coconut. Can Pete save the dwarves from their own sour fate, or will he be forever doomed to plink his pickaxe away in hopes that he hits the motherlode?

Vinely, a Good Beer
Revisado: 02-19-25
Terminal brain cancer in his late 40s sucked. Pete knew today was probably the day he would die. His life didn’t flash before his eyes, but he did reminisce. It all started with mead, then moved on to experimentation with bitters and sours for beers/ales then whiskey and champagne. Beaver Moose IPA hit it off after a hockey player talked about it on an interview. Later a micro-brewery and staff and of course, bills. Later came wine after growing grapes. 15 years later, the wine was one of the best around. Pete had it all. One day while picking grapes, he got dizzy and slid to the ground…
As his eyes peeled open, Pete’s head was killing him. Why was the hospital smell gone? It smelled like sulfur. Why were there sounds of hammers? What is going on? Was that a Scottish accent? Someone pulled at my beard. He didn’t have a beard. The men had huge beards and armor. The room was made of stone. Where was he and how long was he out? Was he dead? The 2 men were short and squat, had beards bulbous noses and had weird accents. They looked like the dwarves of stories and fairytales. When he saw himself in the mirror, a red headed dwarf, he passed out again.
Pete was an indentured servant to the government mine. He had to pay off his debt for fighting in the city. He had found a new cavern while mining and stuck his head in it. This resulted in him getting sulfur poisoning and ending up in the medical rooms. Pete now was going to get a bill from the doctor to be added to what he owed. Grim was his supervisor and when he was released he brought him and his mining partner, Balin, back for a drink of beer. When they all took a swig of beer, Pete spit his out. It was water downed swill. What the…? How could dwarves have crappy beer? The beer tasted terrible and was only about 1% alcohol. This goes against all stores, all fantasy stories. After spitting out the beer, Grim put him on punishment duty, mucking the stalls. Pete would take it upon himself to educate the dwarves on the different kind of beers and ales, the glasses they were served in and the food that they can be cooked in. This was now his quest. Of course, he had to pay off his debt first, but he could do it. And so it begins…

On my way to maybe die again…
Revisado: 01-28-25
Someone was pounding on the door and it was 3am. Who would be here that early? Danny checked the camera on the door and saw three people dressed in black business suits. Two of them were big body builder type guys and another was a woman. He had been kind of expecting this and was happy he had replaced the deadbolt screws with longer ones. Danny grabbed his go bag, pulled open his window and started climbing down the fire escape.
As he landed below, he heard the door to his apartment give way. When Danny was starting to turn, a man stepped out from behind the dumpster and said “Stop where you are, we are here to help you”. This man was dressed like the others but he had on a bowler hat. He started to run out of the alley, but three more of the thugs in black suits cut off his escape. Danny had little time, the three from the door were headed down the fire escape. He needed to get past the man by the dumpster and then try to bull rush the ones at the end of the alley to make his break.
He kicked the bowler man in the gut and kneed him in the chin and broke for the end of the alley. Danny saw now that two of the men had pistols and one was on his phone. This wasn’t going to be easy to escape this time. Danny had a bit of an advantage, he reached into his core to the mana (magic) that rested there. He cast a protection spell around himself and he glowed red momentarily. He cast a summons and a man in chainmail came through. Danny ordered him to attack the three. One went down before the man in chainmail was gunned down. He opened another portal, this time a pair of goblins came through with spears. Danny didn’t even need to ask them to attack, they just did out of their own blood-lust. Danny started to run to end of the alley, when he felt two bullets rip through him. He was dying with not enough mana left to heal himself. The woman from the front door came up to him and told him, she wouldn’t let him suffer.
The system had to choose another candidate, and it found Rico. He works at an insurance company. After his boss talked to him about making sure he meets his monthly quota, he needs an aspirin. As his neighbor is grabbing him one, Rico starts to see spots and he wonders if he is having a stroke. A big burst of pain slammed into him and he hears “link established and you are summoned”. Since it is a first summons, Rico hears that since it is his first summons, he is allowed to ask one question. He asks a bunch of questions and is forced into silence. The voice tells him that he is a level zero summons, it is related to combat related and that he didn’t have any weapons. He would be clothed in his work clothes. A blue oval appeared and he was forced to walk through. Rico appeared in a clearing in the forest. A young mage tells him to stop the orc. Here Rico was in his company polo and khakis against a large armor wearing orc with a giant axe. He was forced to stand in place as the orc attacked. With no weapons, and forced compliance, he punched the orc. The orc sliced him in two. He appeared back in a vast darkness with the voice. The voice said that his performance was abysmal and his rewards would reflect a level zero summons at the abysmal level. Rico was then returned to his world. His neighbor found some ibuprofen. He then asked Rico why he was naked. Rico suddenly snapped out of his daze and quickly started getting dressed. He realized that he had a small leather pouch in his hand and threw it in his pocket. His boss came by as he was buttoning his pants. She called HR. HR and security came to his desk told him he was fired and asked him to leave. And so it begins…

Death is only the Beginning....
Revisado: 04-06-24
John has been trying to complete his quest to create a strain of wheat that can survive in the poisoned lands where forbidden spells were used. He is running out of time as his doom points (95 out of 100) continue to slowly rise. Without any new quests, his only way to remove some of the doom points is to produce the wheat. He doesn’t want to be the reason why every living creature/person on the planet is killed (except for him).
Life of the farm has kept them all busy. But if a wheat strain is not developed in the next few weeks, John may bring on the apocalypse. John and Ellie are not entirely sure if Rebya can be fully trusted. John decides to let Rebya know about the doom points, how points are added and removed. John needs to be more part of the world instead of separated from it. Rebya, the plant lady, is trying to help with the knowledge she has as well as focusing on retrieving historic knowledge that might help the quest. She designs a way for Ellie and John to pass mana back and forth that is both calming and reduces a doom point. She warns them that it will take longer and longer each time.
John and Ellie go to town to celebrate Sven’s life and his sacrifice for Ellie. Ester is going to be taking over the tavern as she was closest to Sven and he had no family. Sven ended up being a watcher and so they will need to discuss how Sven was killed in the shadow tower against the earl (in the previous book) with the Ecclesia. Ellie is nervous about being questioned about it. During the questioning, the refuse to provide the details where it happened as it would lead to mage secrets being discovered as well as Rebya’s hiding place. This leads to contention between John and the 2 holy knights. Later in the book, their show of disrespect is tempered when the knights’ leader acknowledges John as the Eternal Flame and ask for his help. And so it begins…

You See Me Farming...
Revisado: 04-06-24
It has been 8 months since John arrived on the Burrow’s farm. One of John’s active quests was to grow wheat that would survive under most conditions to help the normal folks post the Great War. The farm is growing very well. Ellie and Ben have been there since before John arrived and Thomas who was previously John’s Adjunct has been helping out on the farm. Evan joined based on the recommendation of Sven. He handles a lot of the milking and the deliveries to the village. Evan has a great work ethic and has shown his worth to the farm. Ellie no longer shares the room with Ben since he moved into the bunk house with Evan and Thomas. But life on the farm continues.
The upgrades John made to the house like water pipes, hot water, cart system to the cheese barn, etc. have made life easier. After checking his last field of wheat, he realizes that his current wheat crop will not fulfill his quest. There is still too much mana in the crop. The harvest was coming up and John did want to do things by hand over days and weeks. He goes to his hidden forge and builds a harvesting ‘machine’. It still requires someone to push it up and down the field but with some tweaks, it works and cuts down the harvest time to 2 days. The threshing still takes a week since he doesn’t have anything prepared.
John helps Ellie prepare for her class transferal completion. She could become a witch which was started by her grandmother before something went wrong or she could possibly even die. She decides that she needs to try and complete her grandmother’s wishes. As the storm approaches that will allow Ellie to attempt completing the transference, John detects a presence that is scaring all of the other animals near the farm. He warns Thomas to keep an eye on the farm animals, though the magical beasts seem to sense something is coming. And so it begins….

Historia
A world on the precipice of the apocalypse. A secret forged in the flames of war. A chance to start over. For John Sutton, only one of those three things matters. Retired from a decade of brutal war, he wants nothing more than a quiet pastoral life while he does his best to stem the steady increase of his Doom Points before they hit 100, signaling the start of the end. He’s been given a small farm on the outskirts of the empire as thanks for his service, but no matter how far he travels, it's impossible to escape the war's devastating effects on the world.

A Farmer's Life for Me
Revisado: 04-06-24
It has been over 10 years since John Sutton was summoned to a game-like world. Quests are given out with no rhyme or reason. Those who were summoned are mostly gone as well as those who summoned them. The Great War was happening and help was sought off world. It was a brutal ten year war and John was one of the very few survivors. He was allowed to retire and given an old farm on the edge of civilization. Most people don’t see it but those who were summoned must keep their doom points low. Whenever John uses magic it seems to raise his doom point total by 1 and only quests seem to lower the number of doom points. If he allows his doom points to reach 100, the apocalypse will ensue.
As John approaches the town, he is stopped by a set of boulders or what appear to be boulders. He explains what he is doing near the town. A hunter leaps out and tells John where to go to meet with the village leader. John feels something is not quite right the leader but is taken out to the farm. As they approach, there are people arguing on the porch of his farm. It appears to be 3 thugs and a woman and her younger brother. John talks to them and the village leader about his cows and bull since they appear to be missing. His legal paperwork show they are his.
John stops the 3 thugs from bothering the girl and her brother. The village leader is trying to convince her to come back into town and isn’t much help. The younger brother tells John that the 3 thugs have taken the cows and the bull and they are in the wolf king’s camp. John tells them that he wants his cows and bull or else. He gives them 3 days to return them. Even in the boonies John cannot escape issues and so much for keeping a low profile. And so it begins…

Heroic Farming?
Revisado: 03-29-24
Alden’s mom went through three divorces. Alden and his most recent girlfriend broke up even though they worked at the same shop. Alden’s life was going no here and he longed for someone he was related to and whom he could build a relationship with. He longed for family. Alden had started visiting the GoldenRoot Ancestral Repository as often as he could to find someone over time or distance related to him. So far all of the searches on Bramblethorn haven’t turned up anything or anyone. So Alden start paying for an expert to dig deeper.
Alden’s job was taking care of the plants. He could feel them and nurture them but as he is doing his job, he notices his boss come in with payment due notices. After she leaves the office Alden keeps tending to the plants. After Alden breaks a shelf and plants come crashing down, he is left go from his job. The expert finally reached his mother and coerced the name of his biological father out of her. The expert searched for hours with his father’s name and found a file from almost a century ago. He found multiple letters most opened and one unopened. The expert sent a letter explaining to Alden along with the unopened letter to his distant relation.
As Alden opens the letter the envelope crumbles. Within is the deed for Starshine Farm. The farm is 2000 acres in Twilight Haven. He receives a quest to see if anyone else claims the land and find the residents of Starshine Farm. Alden found it on the map and started packing. He stopped himself and really thought about it. Was he really leaving everything behind for this farm? He knew that someone had to respond and take ownership of it and that meant family. He was doing this. He could help tend it with his gift.
Without giving too much away (if you have read my other reviews, I don’t like to give the story away), Alden grows, learns and heals. Alden learns that some of the family he has been yearning for, have been there and family doesn’t need to mean blood. And so it begins…
This is story is well written, things pick up once Alden is farming and I would definitely recommend.

It’s the Pits for you..
Revisado: 02-03-24
Victor was in Tucson walking home from summer school. He had paid for an essay from a kid during the spring semester of school, but it was copied off the internet. Victor was busted. Luckily, he could still finish the class in summer school and still graduate. He was hoping to get on the wrestling team at the local community college to get noticed. It was so hot, that the soles of his shoes were almost melting to the hot pavement. He made it back to his grandparents’ house. He stepped into the house and then everything went black.
He was conscious but he was drifting in darkness. He wasn’t sure what was going on. Was this related to the heat? Suddenly there was a light. It got bigger and bigger. He was now standing in a big wooden room. Four guys were standing there with four glowing rods. They had blue skin and fluorescent hair. He started get messages including that he was integrated into the system.
One of them said he must be from a dead world. He was to be sold to the pits. He was hit with one of the metal wands and he was immobilized. He waved his wand and Victor floated behind the blue man. As the moved, there were odd creatures and beasts on the streets. They came to a huge arena and they slowly went down into the basement. An obese man sat behind a desk and asked what he was. They said that Victor was base 0 but had a high energy affinity. The obese man says he won’t make it out of the pits on his first night. Time to train hard and fast. And so it begins…

It’s Not Offal….
Revisado: 02-03-24
He was an accomplished wizard who devoted his life to discovering the arcane arts. He came to agreements with the kingdoms of the world and they left him alone. He discovered all kinds of secrets on the Earth and heaven. During one of his research sessions, he leveled up and reached the maximum level. He couldn’t believe there was a cap to the level. What was the point of experimenting to gain experience?
The years that followed, he continued to research immortality. He defeated civilizations and magnificent beasts… to create reagents to make more magical items. He had truly become immortal and created an undead army that could conquer anyone else. He didn’t want to just rule, why would he want to do that…it was way too much work.
He started taking out the gods and their celestial palaces. They cried for mercy but none was given. He then watched over the land, he was 1000 years old and no one could stand against him. Yet still, his level was Max. He decided that by killing death, maybe he would take a rest and sleep. He would be able to wake up and see the advancements in society and start anew. But somehow, someone came into his crypt and woke him. Well, his guest didn’t last more than a few seconds, but his mind and body could not go back to sleep. He needed to see the advancements, the changes in the world, so he would venture out and explore. And so it begins..
JTJ does a great job narrating the book and I love the cackling showing how someone who had lived that long may not be entirely sane.

After accidentally becoming Lord of Gloomwood Manor, countless enemies seek to kill Drake and take his title. All he wanted was some beer and a pack of donuts. Instead, Drake got abducted, tossed into a fantasy world, and almost ritually executed by a pro-wrestler monk with performance issues. After stabbing his rather idiotic kidnapper to death, he magically inherits the old fart’s massive mansion, servants, mountains of gold, and deadly magic powers... which would be great if it also didn’t paint a giant target on his back.

How Drunk Was I?
Revisado: 02-03-24
How much did he have to drink last night? He woke up naked and manacled to a table. Drake looked around the room. He was in some sort of brick tower like a castle. Three stories up there was a door at the top of a set of wooden stairs. Someone asked him if he could understand him. He was also manacled to a giant X. He had an LED on his chest. The man said his name was Westin and they were in a ritual chamber in Gloomwood Manor. Drake felt like he was still drugged. His last memories were of driving through the desert and a woman running out in front of him. He swerved and went through the windshield. He had a piece of the windshield embedded in his chest and he was bleeding profusely.
The door started to creak open. Westin told Drake do not give Lord Gloomwood your name. If he has your name, he can dominate you. The man came down the stairs and told Drake now that he was awake this would be much easier. Drake was pissed, all he wanted was a 6 pack of beer. So he started to do things to make the Lord Gloomwood angry. If he was going to be tortured, he was going to go out fighting. The man brought a disc towards Drake like the one Westin had. As it was placed on his chest, it started to burn into his chest very painfully, and he passed out. The man told him he was now his slave and to give him his name.
He knew he needed to resist and to give the man crap. He told the man his name was Clint Eastwood. Lord Gloomwood believed him and told him that there was nothing he could do now. Lord Gloomwood told Westin to step forward and Westin did. He tried fighting but Westin obeyed every command. The Lord told Drake to sit up. Drake slowly sat up to pretend he was really in the Lord’s control. The Lord commanded Drake to stand. So Drake stood up. He commanded Drake to the sacrificial circle. The Lord commanded Drake to kill Westin. Drake told him to get lost and stabbed him with his own dagger. And so it begins…
