Historia
In Shepherds for Sale, Megan Basham of the Daily Wire documents how progressive powerbrokers—from George Soros, to the founder of eBay, to former members of the Obama administration—set out to change the American church. Their goal: to co-opt evangelicals for political purposes.

A Tell All on Current Evangelical Events
Revisado: 10-23-24
If you have questions about things that have been happening in the church scene over the last few years, this is the book for you. Megan Basham pulls back the curtains in this tell all work to expose the corruption that has been happening in our American churches, institutions, and denominations. “Shepherds for Sale” makes it clear that if our leaders are not being faithful to Christ and His Word, they will be no better than the hired hand.
Basham works through a number of issues here: climate change, abortion, #metoo, LGBTQ, politics, and more. Some of the biggest names, the men we trust, in leadership today seem to have sold themselves as servants of culture, not Christ.
WARNING: Basham does not highlight the fringe Christian leaders. She names the conservative & evangelical leaders that we know and trust… at least we did before reading this book. Once you read “Shepherds for Sale,” your opinion on several Christian leaders will change.
In the Apostle Paul’s letters, he says things like “fight the good fight” (1 Timothy 6:12) and “run the race” (1 Corinthians 9:12). The Christian journey is like a fight or race, we must persevere to the end. My prayer after reading this book is that I will fight on until the battle is over. I hope you will be encouraged to push on as well. May we follow the example of and put our faith in Christ, not man.

Historia
Historic statements of faith—such as the Heidelberg Catechism, the Apostles’ Creed, and the Westminster Confession of Faith—have helped the Christian church articulate and adhere to God’s truth for centuries. However, many modern evangelicals reject these historic documents and the practices of catechesis, proclaiming their commitment to “no creed but the Bible.” And yet, in today’s rapidly changing culture, ancient liturgical tradition is not only biblical—it’s essential.

Creeds ARE Important
Revisado: 09-26-24
Dr. Carl Trueman delivers another excellent book in “Crisis of Confidence.” I have always had a healthy respect for creeds and confessions but Trueman showed that I lacked an understanding of the deep implications such creeds and confessions hold.
Peter encourages Christians to always be prepared to give an answer when our faith is put into question (1 Peter 3:15). As Trueman progressed in “Crisis of Confidence,” this verse kept coming back to me. Creeds and confessions do just what Peter encourages us to do: take biblical truth and put them into concise statements that help answer questions about the Christian faith. They inform our doctrine, church governance, and Christian unity. Creeds and confessions even help us in our worship.
Most importantly, creeds and confessions do not go against “Scripture alone” (at least historic, biblical creeds). Dr. Trueman delivered well on this topic, but I wish he would have narrated himself!

Historia
Neil Gaiman has long been inspired by ancient mythology in creating the fantastical realms of his fiction. Now he turns his attention back to the source, presenting a bravura rendition of the great northern tales. In Norse Mythology, Gaiman fashions primeval stories into a novelistic arc that begins with the genesis of the legendary nine worlds; delves into the exploits of the deities, dwarves, and giants; and culminates in Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods and the rebirth of a new time and people.

Gaiman is a Master Storyteller
Revisado: 09-23-24
As the title suggests, Neil Gaiman is a master storyteller. Norse Mythology was written so well as Gaiman took the most popular Norse myths and retold them in a compelling, fun way. If you are looking for an excellent introduction to Odin, Thor, Loki, and their stories, begin here.
I might add that Gaiman is an incredible narrator. His voice is so smooth. It makes it easy to listen for hours on end.

Historia
God gave us His Word so that we may know Him and live by His truth. So, what should we do when we’re reading the Bible and a difficult passage stops us in our tracks? Sometimes the solution is right there on the page—if we know where to look—while other passages gain clarity in light of the rest of the Bible or its historical background. With the help of an experienced guide, we can overcome the obstacles to our progress and know God’s Word more deeply. In Hard Sayings, Dr. R.C. Sproul applies his wisdom as a theologian and Bible teacher to some of the most challenging verses in Scripture.

Masterful Exposition
Revisado: 09-20-24
Sproul has done it again. Hard Sayings is a master class in biblical exposition and exegesis. In this book Sproul examines many of the hard passages in Scripture and provides a well balanced exegesis with a Reformed theological outlook. I thoroughly enjoyed this work.
The narrator also did a great job. There were quite a few times when I thought I was listening to RC himself.

Fun listen!
Revisado: 09-11-24
I found this to be a really fun way to learn about Viking history. This is not your typical history audiobook; it incorporates humor, music, and voice acting to retell the stories. Although silly at times, it was an enjoyable experience.

What did I just listen to?
Revisado: 09-29-20
This was a tough book to listen to. The vocal performance was great. I could listen to that cast for every book. The story, however, was difficult to follow. There was not much cohesion between the “chapters.” I do not understand the flow of Morpheus’s story. We went from a cat dreaming to Elemental Girl to Shakespeare. What?!?? Made no sense to me. I was legitimately mad when I finished this book.
