Quinn keeps lists of everything - from the days she’s ugly cried, to “Things That I Would Never Admit Out Loud” and all the boys she’d like to kiss. Her lists keep her sane. By writing her fears on paper, she never has to face them in real life. That is, until her journal goes missing....

Loved Everything About This!
Revisado: 05-06-25
I typically don't read YA books, but I'd heard a lot of good things about this one, and they weren't lying. Exceptional writing! I'm adding the author to my list of favorite authors and the audio book narrator really brings the story to life, she's not just reading it!
This story explores the lives of two African American young adults-Quinn and Carter who attend an upscale predominately white high school. While working together at Quinn's house, she and her history partner Carter accidentally switched journals. The contents of Quinn's journal could jeopardize her relationships with her family and friends.
Mild Spoiler Alert: With the incriminating evidence in a blackmailer's hands, Carter and Quinn are in a desperate time-sensitive race to expose the villain before Quinn's biggest secret comes to light. Throughout the book they learn that although they have many differences, they are more alike than just being two of the very few black kids at their school and love begins to bud. But there's a secret Carter's keeping that could wreck everything. What is it and how will this all end?

She was stone COLD!
Revisado: 04-29-25
Angelique was a disturbed woman, self-absorbed and seemingly lacking empathy, maybe because her mom never showed her love or approval. Damion Yates loved Angeligue unconditionally, but she only saw him as a tool. When Angelique feels she might lose everything, this heartless woman begins a selfish, self-preserving journey. Will she learn her lesson in the end?

My perfect life blew up in my face, and I'm still picking up the pieces. The last thing I need is her. A wildflower. A storm. A woman I can't resist. Lotus DuPree is a kick to my gut and a wrench in my plans from the moment our eyes meet. I promised myself I wouldn't trust a woman again, but I've never wanted anyone the way I want Lo. She's not the plan I made, but she's the risk I have to take.

Multilayered Story!
Revisado: 04-27-25
This was a story of betrayal, healing, growth and true love. Lotus suffered a lifetime of emotional trauma induced by the betrayal of the very person who should have been her biggest protector-her mother. Her history made trust, attachment, and vulnerability difficult until she met Keenan. The story started a bit slow, but when it picked up, it took off! Keenan and Lotus faced several challenges, including difficult exes and other obstacles, on their path to a happily ever after. Overall, I give this story a 5 star.

I’m a Frieda McFadden fan!
Revisado: 04-18-25
From the outside, Erica had the ideal family—a husband who was a successful entrepreneur and well-mannered teenage children. But as you read, you’ll learn that this family was quite odd and held many secrets behind their walls- like the fact that Erica favored Liam over Hannah regardless of how much Hannah tried to be a good daughter. Then there was Liam's unusual thoughts and fixations, combined with his strained relationship with his former best friend, Tyler that created a socially awkward dynamic. But Liam always seemed normal when he was around his crush Olivia. Was it an act? Well, someone was to blame when Olivia came up missing and Liam was the last one her neighbors saw her talking to. Who is responsible for Olivia's abduction, and will she be rescued before her dwindling food and water supplies run out? You won't believe what happens next. Looking forward to reading more from Frieda!

Cute Accidental Time Travel Story

Worm holes, solar flares, fake scientists, and a bunch of silly moments. June unexpectedly found herself projected 5 years ahead in time, with Mike being the only person her phone can connect to, a colleague and former classmate from elementary school who carries a clandestine admiration for June. But June has a jealous dislike for Mike because Mike is so likeable, and she doesn't feel appreciated at work for all her efforts. In this fun, time sensitive tale, June learns Mike is more than just the charmer that effortlessly can make everyone fall in love with him. Mike's true self comes out as he spends more time with both Junes (present and future) — she realizes that he's a total sweetheart, willing to risk it all to save her from a lifetime in the future. Will he save her in time? Such a fun read.

Story Was Executed Well!
Revisado: 04-02-25
The author of this story did her thing! Great writing and all the characters came to life as if they were on screen before you. This story was about three siblings- Simone, Bunny, Tallhya, and Ginger who lived comfortable lives in the middle of a world of crime and misfortune. But it was as if, in unison, they all suffered a sudden loss of financial stability and accustomed lifestyles. Facing financial hardship, uncertainty, and grief, the sisters concocted a risky plan to secure their future. Would they pull it off or would they fail? You won’t stop reading until you know.

Historia
Alyson Tinsdale is giving her son the childhood she never had: a stable family, loving home, and a great school in a safe neighborhood. When they move into the home of her dreams in one of Denver's most sought-after developments, Alyson works hard to fit in and impress the other mothers. Bonnie Sloan is the neighborhood matriarch. With her oldest son headed to Yale, and her youngest starting kindergarten, Bonnie is now pursuing her own long-held political aspirations. But it's her middle child, Elijah, and their private family struggles, that cast a shadow over her plans.

This was a great story!
Revisado: 03-25-25
Allison, who had just convinced her hubby to move into an elite neighborhood they really couldn't afford, was the typical "people pleaser. " She wanted to be accepted and cared about what the world thought-obsessively. Lol, she got on my nerves! But I love when a character does that.
The story follows the parallel journeys of Allison, a woman defined by her “people pleasing” nature, and Bonnie, a socially prominent figure whose approval was pivotal to Allison's social acceptance within the neighborhood. Instead of Allison forging the friendship she seeks with Bonnie to further her social standing, the two women become adversaries due to the awkward convergence of their lives through their children.
Down the line something unexpected happens in this pristine neighborhood-a murder. And it becomes a real page turner as you spend the duration of the book trying to figure out who killed Bonnie's teenage son and where Allison fits into the missing puzzle piece of the mystery. Who done it? There are multiple possibilities. I like this author and the stories she tells of upper middle-class socialites. Will be listening to more of her work. Bravo!
