Forced... would have put down the book

This series was mediocre and at times really weird. I have issues with scifi that is too unbelievable. Once he gets into all the mind games and time travel its really hard to keep going. Further those parts really drag. I listened because it was recommended by the bot and I didnt have time to find something else. I would have never gotten through let alone past reading the first book.

Most painful narration

This narrator is awful. I'm maybe 1/4 of the way through of it and I'm not sure I can do the rest. Her way of speaking is super annoying and her voices and accents are awful. Please please go back to the other narrator!!

decent story telling but weird

All the characters are very bizarre and flumbling through life in a really unrelatable way. I found most of them annoying and had a hard time listening. Had I had another option at the time I wouldn't have. I would have thought a man wrote it for as annoying as the female characters were.

These are getting more and more unrealistic even for YA books about magic and demons. And there's a lot of almost sex in totally weird places. This one was also really whiney. The reader didn't help, his voices were really hard to listen to without cringing and his Asian characters were especially badly portrayed and cringe worthy if not culturally insensitive.

Painful

Full disclosure i couldn't get past the first 30 minutes. She's painfully overdramatic about silly teenage things and worst of all was out of breath for most of it. The character is totally uninteresting and stereotypically teeenage. Nothing she describes is anything other than ridiculous and downright mean girl drama. She doesn't seem to have an intelligent thought. I do hope this is the exception because if this is all youth we're doomed.

I ended up listenign to the whole thing on a long drive. Otherwise I would have stopped. Droll, predictable, and seriously terrible. The woman needs to get a spine and the guy is a misogynist jerk. Ladies...if this is what you're listening to you need to value yourselves...and your reading material more!

Great, and timley read

I love Trevor Noah and his frank, funny, and charismatic way to telling what is at times a horrifying story of poverty and struggle, makes this a great read. It is especially interesting to see racism and apartheid from his point to view. Makes you think about today's America. Overall a great ready. Audible 20 Review Sweepstakes Entry.
