Historia
Immediately following the success of Little Women, Louisa May Alcott sat down to write An-Old Fashioned Girl, expanding on the subject of rich versus poor that she explored in her first novel. It’s a story of a country mouse and a city mouse: 14-year-old Polly Milton travels to Boston for a stay with her friend Fanny Shaw. The wealthy Shaws’ way of life is foreign to Polly who tries to adapt but is quickly labeled “old-fashioned”. Fanny and her friends dress and behave as their elders do, flirting with boys and gossiping.

Charming story for all ages
Revisado: 04-03-25
The narrator‘s voice made this story delightful to listen to. Just as the title indicates, it is an old-fashioned story about An Old-Fashioned Girl and I can’t help but long for the simplicity of those days.

Historia
If you've ever picked up a hymn book, the chances are that you've sung a song written by a blind girl - and not just any blind girl. As a young child, Fanny Crosby knew nothing of the sighted world around her but that didn't stop her interacting with nature, experiencing the thrill of God's creation. She held her grandmother's hand, but she thought that was because Grandmother needed her help not the other way around.

A poor blind woman who did more in her life for the kingdom, then I will ever be able to do
Revisado: 02-26-25
This book encouraged me to live my life with contentment and praise to Jesus. I am simply amazed at the courage and talent. This blind woman accomplished in her lifetime. Her legacy continues on today. One of my favorite quotes is the one where she says, and I am paraphrasing, I am so thankful that the first face I will ever see will be that of my savior Jesus
This book is inspired me to create a playlist of Fanny Crosby hymns, and to be pulled in, sharing my love of Jesus

Historia
While many Christians recognize the name of Charles H. Spurgeon, the beloved preacher and writer, few are familiar with the life and legacy of his wife, Susie. Yet Susannah Spurgeon was an accomplished and devout woman of God who had a tremendous ministry in her own right, as well as in support of her husband. Now, for the first time, Susie brings this vibrant woman’s story to modern listeners. Ray Rhodes, Jr., shows that Susannah was not only the wife of London’s most famous preacher, but also a woman who gave all she had in grateful service to the Lord.

Very inspiring book about Susie Spurgeon. She lived with much pain, but she never complained and she found ways to serve joyfully doing what she can from her place in the world.

Incredibly inspiring story
Revisado: 01-29-25
I have long admired Spurgeon as the prince of preachers, I find myself fascinated with biographies. As a woman, it intrigues me to want to know about the women behind the men. And the more I learn about the women behind these famous godly men, it becomes ever clearer that these men could not be who they were if not for their wives. I recommend this book to every pastor and his wife.

Best book!!! Must listen!!
Revisado: 01-14-25
I am in awe, and I am humbled after listening to the mini true stories in this book. These women are so much more courageous than me. What an encouraging, challenging, humbling listen for me as a American Christian woman. I have been so blessed, so pampered, so spoiled, and I have taken so much for granted in my faith. This book has ignited a new passion in me. My prayer life will change.

Historia
In Toxic Empathy, Allie Beth Stuckey argues that empathy has become a tool of manipulation by left-wing activists who bully people into believing that they must adopt progressive positions to be loving. She explores the five most heated issues through which toxic empathy is deployed: abortion, gender, sexuality, immigration, and social justice. Progressives use catchy mantras to present their perspective as empathetic, like “abortion is healthcare,” “love is love,” or “no human being is illegal,” but in each case, they ignore the other side of the moral equation.

Much needed clarity for a confused society
Revisado: 10-23-24
Such a clear and insightful perspective! We are called to have empathy, but we are also called to speak truth. We are called to love, but we are also called to live under the governing laws of our nation. Empathy speaks truth with compassion. Toxic empathy simply agrees with whatever opinion seems to be right at the moment, and leads to destruction.

Historia
"Be holy, for I am holy," commands God to His people. But holiness is something that is often missed in the Christian's daily life. According to Jerry Bridges, that's because we're not exactly sure what our part in holiness is. In The Pursuit of Holiness, he helps us see clearly just what we should rely on God to do-and what we should accept responsibility for ourselves.

Historia
With the story of her conversion as a backdrop, Rosaria Butterfield invites us into her home to show us how God can use “radical, ordinary hospitality” to bring the Gospel to our lost friends and neighbors. Such hospitality sees our homes as not our own but as God’s tools for the furtherance of his kingdom as we welcome those who look, think, believe, and act differently from us into our everyday, sometimes messy lives - helping them see what true Christian faith really looks like.

Radical ordinary hospitality
Revisado: 03-12-19
Imagine if we all loved our neighbors as ourselves. If we had open doors to have coffee, grill out, play cards. If we would BE Jesus instead of talking about Jesus. If we agreed to disagree without anger and contempt. This, all this, is radical ordinary hospitality.
