Historia
At the front of a middle-school classroom in Oklahoma, a boy named Khosrou (whom everyone calls "Daniel") stands, trying to tell a story. His story. But no one believes a word he says. To them he is a dark-skinned, hairy-armed boy with a big butt whose lunch smells funny; who makes things up and talks about poop too much.

Written from the perspective of a young Iranian refugee, you are taken on a journey that will make you laugh, mourn, and long for a world where everything sad comes untrue.
The book is made for audible and is a wonderful read. Strongly suggest.

what an amazing course
Revisado: 07-28-21
admittedly, I love economics and I'm a financial advisor. however, I think this course would be interesting to anyone. The professor uses real-world studies and scenarios to explain our biases and how they impact decision making. I am recommending this to friends and family, and will likely listen again soon. stellar performance, amazing class

Historia
Our current climate of partisan fury is not new, and in The Soul of America Meacham shows us how what Abraham Lincoln called the “better angels of our nature” have repeatedly won the day. Painting surprising portraits of Lincoln and other presidents, including Ulysses S. Grant, Theodore Roosevelt, and LBJ, and illuminating the courage of influential citizen activists and civil rights pioneers, Meacham brings vividly to life turning points in American history. Each of these dramatic hours have been shaped by the contest to lead the country to look forward rather than back.

Opinion Piece not a comprehensive history
Revisado: 02-12-21
I will admit I gave up after the first few hours. Although he makes good points there is no linear two sided history. The context felt unorganized and it seemed to focus on the greatness of certain presidents and not the complexity of history and the office of president. I was hoping for a lot more and hope that the rest of the book was better.

great narrative about a mom and her son struggling to escape a a drug kingpin. I was initially a little frustrated as it seemed a bit exaggerated. However, after doing a little research on la bestia (train that takes migrants north) The topic itself was a bit eye-opening. Don't take this at face value for a work of nonfiction. it is a wonderful work of fiction, that sheds light on a real reality.
