Enjoyed
Revisado: 09-30-23
I really enjoyed this audio book. I had a hard time turning it off as I was captivated with this story. The main character was a very spunky young lady, having quite the adventure.
I didn't care for George's emotional voice but enjoyed everything else about the book.

Historia
In April of 1846, 21-year-old Sarah Graves, intent on a better future, set out west from Illinois with her new husband, her parents, and eight siblings. Seven months later, after joining a party of pioneers led by George Donner, they reached the Sierra Nevada Mountains as the first heavy snows of the season closed the pass ahead of them. In early December, starving and desperate, Sarah and 14 others set out for California on snowshoes and over the next 32 days endured almost unfathomable hardships and horrors.

The survivors
Revisado: 09-17-23
I enjoyed the book, but also feel a greater appreciation for the pioneers determined to make this trip. I can't even imagine the suffering the survivors went through and all they witnessed happening to their family members that did not survive.
