Another delightful hit

I have absolutely adored this entire series of books and this one did not disappoint. It’s my life-saver for doing housework - digging into the next installment of Max’s crazy life while learning a bit more about the history. I cannot get enough of these! The writing is wonderful, and Zara Ram really brings the characters to life for me. I can’t imagine Max in any other voice.

Loved this light, easy to listen to, fun world created by the author. I know it’s not his usual novel, but I hope he decides to revisit this story again in the future. Will Wheaton did an excellent job voicing all the characters, as usual. Thanks for the fantastic story!

This was a great source of encouragement and exactly what I needed to hear this year. In a year where “Doom scrolling” has become kind of a favorite pastime, I needed this reminder about breaking the hold social media has over my time and attention and getting back into creation. I was taken in by the new characters and cannot wait to see where they’ll be off to next. This was a great diversion from the Quarantine. Please keep ‘em coming, Ms. Taylor!

I love the Chronicles of St. Mary’s books, so I was excited when I saw these books pop up. It is a different type of story, but just as imaginative and with the same caliber of characters. Really enjoyed it!

I really hope Scott Meyer will continue to add new stories in this series! My husband and I are always thrilled when they pop up on our preorder recommendations. I have enjoyed all of the books in this series, though one got a little darker than the others. This one is right back to being light-hearted and funny, with an expanded look into minor characters that broadened the magical universe without feeling contrived for the sake of selling yet another Magic 2.0 book.

This could have been due to a certain local quality of unflappability, or it could have been that in three years the ship did exactly nothing other than sit quietly in that field, and nobody understood the full extent of this nothing the ship was doing better than the people who lived right next door.

Fun new twist

I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect from this story. I bought it on a whim, I think when it was on sale. I was afraid the narrator’s voice would lull me to sleep instead of keeping my attention fixed, but I had no such problems. The story was a lot of fun, with a different twist than any alien visitors story I have heard, and the narrator was fantastic. I would gladly listen to him for many more hours!

Wasn’t sure I would like it at first

But overall it was an enjoyable sci-fi read. I liked the development & evolution of the cultures. It didn’t grab my attention the way some stories have, but I liked a lot of the details developed throughout.
