Strong Women
Revisado: 01-14-25
As humans, we often speculate about what we would do in a given situation, but until confronted with unthinkable evil, we don’t really understand the power of love and faith. The Midwife of Auschwitz is the story of both heartbreak and joy in the midst of the most horrific of situations.
I look forward to reading The Midwife of Berlin (Book 2 in the series).

On an ordinary Monday morning, Ariel Cafferty's phone buzzes with a disturbing text message. Something’s happened. I need to see you. Meet me under the candelabra tree ASAP. The words would be jarring from anyone, but the sender is the only man she ever loved. And it's been several years since she learned he died. Seeing Drew’s name pop up is heart-stopping. Ariel’s gut says it can’t be real. But she goes to the tree anyway. She has to. Nobody shows.

Historia
When Olivia Shaw’s mother dies, the sophisticated food editor is astonished to learn she’s inherited a centuries-old English estate—and a title to go with it. Raw with grief and reeling from the knowledge that her reserved mother hid something so momentous, Olivia leaves San Francisco and crosses the pond to unravel the mystery of a lifetime. One glance at the breathtaking Rosemere Priory and Olivia understands why the manor, magnificent even in disrepair, was the subject of her mother’s exquisite paintings. What she doesn’t understand is why her mother never mentioned it.

History. Art. Mystery. Food. Love. This book has it all.
Revisado: 10-01-24
The foodie in me loved the descriptions of each dish, sometimes I could almost taste (or at least smell) the epicurian delights.
I could see the tattered and crumbling ruins of Rosemere Priory and feel the sun shining on my face through the holes in the ancient roof.
However, the escalation of the romance to graphic sex was unnecessary.

Historia
Cousins Tabby and Ellie Mae are due for a change. Running their aunt’s beachfront bed-and-breakfast in Sandcastle, Texas, is just the thing to shake things up…though their lives spin out of control in more ways than one when a hurricane barrels into the coastline. It’s a miracle it didn’t carry them off to Kansas. Not so lucky are the assisted-living center and a small eclectic group of local folks who take shelter with the cousins.

Fun & Respectful
Revisado: 07-19-24
This is truly a fun read. My favorite part of the story is the genuine love and respect between this rag-tag group of strangers. If I ever get stuck in a hurricane, I hope that my experience turns out as well as this one does.

The story is well written & researched but relies heavily unnecessary foul language. There are also graphic crime details...if you are squeamish, this book is not for you.

Must Read
Revisado: 06-18-24
I originally read this series in the spring/summer of 2021. However, listening to this book three years later I have a new perspective and appreciation for what “things” really matter. Hearing the book read in the author’s own voice makes it all the more impactful.
My original review was in July 2021.

What do St. Louis, Chicago, Colorado, quirky relatives, songwriting contests, Christmas Eve, angels, and demons all have in common? They are all found in "Vision," the second in the "Awakening" series. This sequel to "Counselor" follows Liz’s journey of faith into unknown territory – love and romance, faith over fear, trust in her calling over rejection, and the reality of unseen spiritual forces of good and evil.

Well Done!!!
Revisado: 06-14-24
There is something uniquely special about reading the original version of a book and then listening to the author read the audiobook. I can honestly say that I enjoyed “rereading” this book. Since my original review, I have grown in my faith, and the story touched new parts of my heart.
Each book can be read as a standalone, but it is better appreciated when read in order.
My original review was May 19. 2021.
I received this book free from the author, publisher, or other source. My only obligation is to provide a fair and honest review.
