Historia
The world of Faerie never disappeared: it merely went into hiding, continuing to exist parallel to our own. Secrecy is the key to Faerie’s survival—but no secret can be kept forever, and when the fae and mortal worlds collide, changelings are born. Half-human, half-fae, outsiders from birth, these second-class children of Faerie spend their lives fighting for the respect of their immortal relations.

Entertaining but painful
Revisado: 04-18-22
Warning: This novel is filled with emotional gut-punches and does not play fair. Yes, it is well written and extremely engaging. Yes, the main character is complex and fun to read. That said, I will probably not be reading this one again for some time. Characters you start to love are ripped away and fates worse then death lie in wait around every corner. There are no happy endings in this fairy tale

Historia
All Dahlia wanted was her freedom. But first, she needed to buy out of her promised bonding - a promise that was made for her before she was even born. Almost a century of trying had taken its toll, and she did some things she isn’t proud of. She lost parts of herself along the way and flirted with the darkness inside her...and it flirted back. Everything in her life systematically blew up in her face one piece at a time. Blaming it all on the beautiful, egotistical vampire who showed up in her life would be easy, but it started long before he arrived.

Interesting but extremely frustrating
Revisado: 04-05-22
While the premise was unique and had a lot of potential, it utterly failed in execution. Not only is most of the plot extremely predictable, but the story was generally unsatisfying.
Dahlia is a self proclaimed feminist demon and repeatedly fights against misogyny in demon culture. That said, it seems the author doesn't actually know what feminism is because Dahlia spends the entire novel failing at everything and needing to be constantly rescued by the powerful men in her life.
Dahlia supposedly has been an assassin for 95 years, but seems to not retain any of her knowledge or skills after the novel begins. Despite how exciting a shapeshifting demon assassin is as a concept, the novel is mostly about Dahlia's family drama and her arranged marriage. The few instances where she actually has a chance to use her skills are lackluster because she keeps making easily avoidable mistakes.
Finally, Dahlia gets jumped or kidnapped at least 5 times. I legitimately lost count of how many times she served as a damsel in distress. In addition, every time she is kidnapped the male love interest sweeps in to either rescue her or take credit for when she nearly saves herself. It honestly felt like the author was afraid to let her protagonist actually show any form of competence that wasn't related to her computer skills. Even then she still has to ask her brother's for help half the time.
This book was clearly written by someone who was passionate about the world they had created and had several good ideas along the way. That said the majority of characters are two dimensional and much of the story reads like a teenager's first fanfic.
Despite all of that I really hope this author continues writing because there's a lot of good in this novel. I just hope the sequels give the protagonist some much needed character growth. Let the damn woman save herself for once and not trip over her own feet

Absolutely loved it!
Revisado: 02-13-22
The story was compelling and exciting (although predictable at times.) I often found myself laughing at the main character's antics because of how awkward and relatable they were.
As for the narrator, it was refreshing to hear a non-american non-british voice actor for once. I never found it particularly hard to follow along with the story and the russian folklore of the story seemed more natural coming from someone with that accent

Historia
All are equal in death. Tallora’s world ends in a single, bloodstained night, and all the world will fall in line, unless the gods interfere. But divine aid comes at a price no mortal can pay, except in death, and perhaps Death, herself, has a few tricks of her own. From the author of Fallen Gods comes a tale of redemption and sacrifice - and the true power of forgiveness.

If you are looking for a short lesbian romance with supernatural action this is a great choice. My only problem with it is that its too short and stops just when its getting good

Historia
You may think you know this story. There's a young queen about to be married. There are some good, brave, hardy dwarfs; a castle shrouded in thorns; and a princess cursed by a witch, so rumor has it, to sleep forever. But no one is waiting for a noble prince to appear on his trusty steed here. This fairy tale is spun with a thread of dark magic, which twists and turns and glints and shines.
