Historia
Quentin Coldwater is brilliant but miserable. A senior in high school, he's still secretly preoccupied with a series of fantasy novels he read as a child, set in a magical land called Fillory. Imagine his surprise when he finds himself unexpectedly admitted to a very secret, very exclusive college of magic in upstate New York, where he receives a thorough and rigorous education in the craft of modern sorcery.

Print vs audio
Revisado: 06-25-14
Would you listen to The Magicians again? Why?
I enjoyed the overall story, there were interesting situations and a few
Very original responses to the now cliche " surprise ! You're going to magic school.”
I would like to read the third book. I emphasis the word read as opposed to listen.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The most intersting aspect of the story was also the worst aspect. These characters
Are completely charmless. There is not one I care about or wish to have further
Insight into. Selfish, shallow and cliche , they were the students we should dislike
In that self pity novel of poor prep school kid torment. They move through situations of potential charm, awe, terror, wonderment all with the same "meh" attitude with few
Exceptions. I would have expected them to be electrified into change but they remain
As unpleasant as they begin. An interesting treatment.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Although there were little elements of many other once original, magic realm vs mundane
story devices , the overall path of the story and wonderful odd events makes
These novels an entertaining read. Do READ them.
Any additional comments?
However the worst aspect of this book was the narrator's voice. And it was also perfect.
Think of a bored sarcastic peevish John Lithgow. That is the voice reading about
Bored, self centered , unsympathetic characters. Truly horrible.
I will read the third novel and spare myself one more level of disenchantment.
However if you want to maximize the unattractive qualities of the novel's characters
This narrator serves nicely.

Historia
Here is a timeless tale of waterside Britain that has been loved by generations of children and acclaimed as a classic. The story of Mole, Ratty, Badger, and Toad, and their escapades, whether messing about on the river or poop-pooping in Toad's shiny new car, cannot fail to enchant.

A classic read with charm
Revisado: 04-20-14
Would you consider the audio edition of The Wind in the Willows to be better than the print version?
No. Nothing can replace the cognitive experience of reading printed words. However many of us do have learning disabilities and audio books are a lovely solution. In addition , a book of this quality would be ideally suited for younger readers to listen to as they develop their reading skills. I listened to it while recovering from heart surgery when fatigue made managing a book far too difficult. The lovely gentle adventures and friendships , the beautiful descriptive language - it was all very calming and restorative.

Just Don't Fall Asleep!
Revisado: 04-20-14
Where does Songbird Sunrise and Thunderstorm rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Another lovely relaxing set of sounds completely ruined for sleepers by the loud announcement tacked on by Audible.
I bought a Homedics sleep sound machine by the same author on a continuous loop
A much much better solution for me.
What did you like best about this story?
Everything until the last minute..BOOM I am wide awake. Thanks audible.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Well , the Audible addition not created by the author wakes me up.
Any additional comments?
If you must needlessly self promote to your own customers , reduce the volume

I love it ! So relaxing until the last minute when Audible completely spoils all relaxation effects with its own self promotion announcement tacked on in a VERY LOUD VOICE

Stiff stilted voice artist
Revisado: 04-20-14
Would you listen to Anne of Green Gables again? Why?
I plan to listen to the whole series. It is very old fashioned and charming even as it
is filled with overly wordy and cliche description. That is part of the fun. And the characters
Are interesting. Also the historic setting and way of life is delightful.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I enjoyed the heroine. She was lively and reflective. Her actual dialogue bothe external and internal was captivating. The author's own narrative through out the story was oddly
Cliche and overwrought in contrast.
How could the performance have been better?
The voice artist was very stiff as if biting each word. And there was not a great deal
Of artistry in variety of voice characters.
