I have found that this is a common flaw with litrpg. The first book of a series has a strong objective - survive in a new world. This is generally a strong enough premise to capture my attention. But I've come to realise that despite many of the authors being good writers they do not spend any time giving the characters a real reason to progress and get stronger, grow and move forward excepting for their desire to do so.
This book may as well read as, "Blah, Blah, hit, hit, new person, new creature, blah, blah, hit, hit."

Not great, Not bad. Simple LitRPG with no real compelling story arc but the book doesn't fall into too many pitfalls of the genre.
The only real issue I have is when facing a dangerous challenge the MC seems to always be doing it with 60 odd unassigned stat points.
