Historia
Anthropologist Jeremy Narby has altered how we understand the Shamanic cultures and traditions that have undergone a worldwide revival in recent years. Now, in one of his most extraordinary journeys, Narby travels the globe - from the Amazon Basin to the Far East - to probe what traditional healers and pioneering researchers understand about the intelligence present in all forms of life. Intelligence in Nature presents overwhelming illustrative evidence that independent intelligence is not unique to humanity alone.

interesting cast of researchers
Revisado: 05-04-20
This book contains great groundwork to launch anthropological and philosophical inquiries of your own. A solid collection of shaman and scientist were chosen to pursue the question of natural intelligence. Though, expect to finish this book and feel a discovery channel level of incompleteness. A semantic analysis of intelligence is a more appropriate title. Natural evolutionary mechanisms can work their way through millennia bootstrapping their way to brilliance. Eventually the crown of intellect can be placed atop an "individual" that is composed of trillions of entities that compete. In short, we aren't sure how we know we know, but incompleteness gives us room to grow.

A brilliant book by Nobel Prize winner Eric R. Kandel, The Age of Insight takes us to Vienna 1900, where leaders in science, medicine, and art began a revolution that changed forever how we think about the human mind - our conscious and unconscious thoughts and emotions - and how mind and brain relate to art.

masterwork

This is one of the greatest collections of works cited I've ever come across. Beautifully and comprehensively presented, this is a gold mine of brain science and classic art. I will return to this often.

Historia
Modern Man in Search of a Soul is the classic introduction to the thought of Carl Jung. Along with Freud and Adler, Jung was one of the chief founders of modern psychiatry. In this book, Jung examines some of the most contested and crucial areas in the field of analytical psychology: dream analysis, the primitive unconscious, and the relationship between psychology and religion.

Objectively subjective.
Revisado: 05-19-19
Jung's imagery and use of symbols make the case for subjectivity as a variable in philosophy.

This book is beautiful Jungian prose.
Revisado: 09-22-18
I'll be recommending this book for the rest of my life. Steven Pressfield writes honestly and with integrity rarely displayed in the art world. This work touches psychology, physiology, metaphysics, philosophy, and is rich with personal insights that can certainly be abstracted for one's own circumstance. This is a battle cry for consciousness itself.

Wonderfully read and masterfully worded.

This is not something with which to start if you are interested in learning about Jungian psychology or the principles of his work. In this book he discusses freely his personal thoughts and visions and how they corroborate with his empirical studies. The nomenclature utilized would require prior knowledge of jungian analysis to truly gather something meaningful from this book. With that said, I absolutely loved this. To hear the vivid dreams that occured within Jung helps one grasp how expansive and deep his knowledge base and creative impulses ran.
