Fantastic story, made 100% better through the Narrator’s work.
Revisado: 05-08-23
I’ve enjoyed this story since the first line of the first book. I look forward to each new installment. This series has become the only series for which I pre- buy each new book. No other story, author, or voice has hooked me so well that I have so eagerly anticipated the next book enough to add the title to my pre-ordered purchases.
As much as I continue to enjoy this creative world of magic, and so many characters which the author has brought to life in a world in which I can loose myself so completely, there is simply no way I could so completely enjoy this experience with such an incomparable voice.
Whenever I read a book before I listen to the book, it can be tricky to find as much enjoyment in a title from Audible, when I’ve already created voices and personalities in my own head as I read the book. In this case however, it was almost magic the way the narrator simply slid right into my own creation without any real conflict in my head.
Probably sounds a bit like I’m nuts. Maybe. Just a wee bit. However, my mental condition doesn’t change the fact that i so completely enjoy these books, several times, with each new release, I can’t say enough about how impressive I find both the story and the narration.

Simply the Best
Revisado: 05-02-23
As fantastic and impressive as the story most certainly is… it doesn’t hold a candle to the performance of the narrator.

Fantastic! Only a short step down from The Wheel of Time.
Revisado: 01-04-22
If only because The Wheel of Time series stands out as one of the most singularly complex and over developed fantasy world’s of all time. 😁
Obviously a completely different type of Fantasy, this set of books, in it’s own way, is a wonderfully creative, fun, detailed, and fully built world.
If I try to go on too long, I’m likely to just keep and what would otherwise be a wonderful review so I will just leave it at this… I enjoyed it, every minute, every book, all the way through.

BRING BACK TODD MENESSES!
Revisado: 07-17-21
How do you switch narrators mid-series!😱😱
I love the story line, the characters, the natural humor and ribbing between the main characters (Rugrat & Eric), it clearly feels like the author might’ve actually had relationship(s) similar.
All of it works together, every element it seams, fits naturally into the story’s flow, INCLUDING TODD, it was amazing!!! I don’t think I’ve ever waited for a book release like I’ve waited for book number six!!! Then, almost as bad as not writing ERIC into book 6, the Narrator with talent to spare, just vanishes, *poof,* like fart in the wind! So disappointing.
BUT WAIT!!! There’s more! In addition to playing switcheroo with the narrator, because book six was a little longer, someone made the decision to break that book into two halves. From the listener’s perspective, it looks and feels like someone is only worried about milking a listener for two price tags instead of one. Seriously, SERIOUSLY disappointing. (I wish I could add italics and underline some things for more emphasis)
I don’t have the words to express my disappointment.
If not fir the writing and story, I’d have rated it a 1 or 2, as it is, I can’t help but give a 5. Fantastic Writing. 2 for the Narrator.
Forgive my errors in spelling and Grammer. I’m writing at stop lights between my service calls! 😂🤣

Historia
In the first book, Hadjar lost it all. His body ruined, parents dead, and his title of Prince replaced by a slave collar. It seemed like Primus had deprived him of everything. But no one can take away a man's will to fight. Even if his heart turns into a bleeding stone due to endless grief and suffering, it won't matter. The most important thing was that he still had the will to go on. The thought of taking revenge on his family's murderers gave him the strength to survive.

Soooooo.... obviously female centric.
Revisado: 01-14-21
Not entirely a problem, until NONE of the reactions make sense. An overly idealistic feminine imagining in almost every character, weather male OR female. Maybe 10% accurate.
It’s fantasy. Right. But, that’s supposed to be the setting, the world, the mechanics, how things work. The fantasy isn’t supposed to be the ridiculously unrealistic way EVERY character is paralyzed with emotion they CANNOT control. Emotion that painfully interferes with, and overly complicates, every single character interaction.
A nice balance between the emotional, interpersonal, world mechanics, and plot would be great. This is more like 80% emotional paralysis, and 20% everything else.
It’s a creative world, so much potential, so much waste. The first book was slow to start, but if it’s opening to a long running series of large books, that’d be ok, it’s understandable, somewhat necessary, to develop the foundations.
And then this book... craps all over massive potential with unconnected threads, emotional nonsense, dropped plot points, unrealistic responses to situations, and lack of development of what initially looked to be critical plot lines.
However, to each, their own I guess. My disappointment may not be yours. If you enjoy the emotional with everything else on 2nd or 3rd track, this is your winner. Enjoy.
