Give it a Chance!
Revisado: 02-01-25
This book is subtle. The humor, romance and story are understated and if you aren't paying attention you might pass up a really good story. I absolutely loved it. It's been awhile since I couldn't put a book down. Not that this had a fast-paced story where you were on the edge of your seat. No, it was just interesting and I couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen to characters I became invested in. The romance was the right heat and described well. The narrative has the perfect voice for this story and I enjoyed his pace. So many things right with this!!

Difficult to Listen to Narrator - Buy the Book
Revisado: 02-21-23
I highly recommend buying a hard copy of this book; it's almost impossible to listen to the narrator. Her cadence is "off", she sounds like she's reading from a prompter - no flow, rhythm. Words are spoken individually, and sentences are chopped up to the point that it's difficult to grasp the concepts. I struggled to get through it.
With that said, the content is amazing, and I loved it! Very interesting and I wish every person could read and understand what the author is teaching. I will buy the book, read again myself, make notes and use her teachings to help others as they go through their dying process.

Historia
Eight years ago, the world as we know it ended. Now, the last US government stronghold has sent a military recon team from Camp David to the bombed-out city of Seattle, but the mission turns deadly when a horde of horrifying mutant creatures are released onto the streets. Oliver Marcus and Trisha Pike, the only survivors of their nine-man team, are rescued by a group of scavengers led by their superhuman leader, River Kingston. Driven by the need to find her lost husband, River is drawn in by Mycroft, the invisible puppet master behind New Texas.

Glad I Didn't Listen to the Bad Reviews
Revisado: 05-20-22
honestly, I probably would have passed on this book based on the reviews. But, it was free and in a genre that I like. As for the difficulty some listeners had with character names... maybe because I had a heads up, I paid attention and did not have the same experience. I can say that the horses have "people names" i.e. Glenda instead of horsey names like Blaze and that did give me a moment of ??? also, some characters have 2 names (their real name and their military or call name). Now that that's settled, the story was great, performance was great and I am going to look up the next in the series if there is one. If I have to pay for it, I will, gladly!
