Historia
Artillery duels between the allied forces in South Korea and the seven thousand guns of North Korea ranged across the DMZ. With much of the North Korean aircraft destroyed during the preemptive attacks, South Korean and American attack fighters sortied from bases to strike at the leading North Korean columns. Skirmishes broke out between forward screening units. Nerves were on edge as the major ground units of the north and south were about to collide head-on. Will the southern defenses hold? Or will the masses of the north force their way through?

This is a good series
Revisado: 06-02-24
First as a former sapper I love the use of sappers in the book. A combat engineer’s importance to shaping the battlefield can’t be overstated. However as a former sapper that completed two tours in Korea I find some of the author’s suppositions to be unbelievable. A war on the Korean Peninsula will include the widespread use of weapons of mass destruction both chemical and nuclear and possibly biological by the north and retaliatory strikes by the US and South Korea. There just isn’t any way around that. The leadership of the north is unstable and knows their military equipment is old, unreliable, except for maybe their rocket forces. Their tanks are probably useless against the original M1 Abram’s. I am also a veteran of the first gulf war and saw first hand what happens to T-72s and T-64s that go up against a US Armored Cavalry Regiment, for us it’s like shooting ducks in a small pond for them; they may as well be driving a coffin. They have to know their armor is useless. They would be forced to fight dirty early in any war if they wanted any chance to win. Other than my belief that the author totally missed out on the WMD part I think this series will give anyone something to think about and is worth the time reading or listening to it.

Historia
Every generation, a journalist has looked deep into the heart of the nuclear military establishment: the technologies, the safeguards, the plans, and the risks. These investigations are vital to how we understand the world we really live in—where one nuclear missile will beget one in return, and where the choreography of the world’s end requires massive decisions made on seconds’ notice with information that is only as good as the intelligence we have. Pulitzer Prize finalist Annie Jacobsen’s Nuclear War: A Scenario explores this ticking-clock scenario.

Absolutely Terrifying
Revisado: 04-04-24
This book is very timely. With the Doomsday Clock at 90 seconds to midnight, the closest it has ever been, this book is important for everyone to read. Nuclear war is more than possible in today’s world. While one could disagree with some of her political conclusions, they are very few and far between. The reality is that nuclear war cannot be won.
In this scenario North Korea is able to destroy the US and Russia by launching two weapons. After that decades of classified war planning takes over in both America and Russia leading to a full exchange within an hour. One hour from launch to annihilation and worse her ideas are well researched and frighteningly accurate. No matter what your political beliefs this author has put forward an excellent warning no one wins a nuclear war.
I highly recommend this book to everyone. Read it and study it. This is one war that needs not be fought but also one that we are constantly headed toward.

This is one of the best science fiction series anywhere. I have been a fan since the first book and have never missed a release. I have often wondered what a James McGill TV Series would look like. If tgos is your first time thinking about this series you can’t go wrong. I can’t wait to see what the war with the galactic will look like and what kind of trouble the good centurion will find next, or wil find him.

Unrealistic and y entertaining
Revisado: 03-26-23
Honestly I had to stop a couple of hours into it. I really don’t see how it could get better. A guy inherits a huge parcel of land right before the world as we know it ends. Everyone, and I mean everyone but the woman he meets is out to get him. Oh and she is unable to care for herself. Dang such a cliche. Don’t waste your time or your credit.

My Favorite Sci-Fi Audiobooks
Revisado: 02-27-23
These stories are great and never get old. I can never wait to see what James McGill and his attractive but evil girlfriend are up to next. Without giving away too much of the plot the entire planet is threatened this time and there is a purge and of course McGill is the first to die. So begins another adventure.
If you have never read or listened to the Undying Mercenaries series before, you really should start at book one and work your way up. You really need to know the history between the main characters of this series to appreciate it. If you have ever wondered what would happen if soldiers could be brought back to life after being killed then B.V. Larsen has really thought of the answer to that. Why of course part of basic training for the legion includes at least one death and your girlfriend will kill you when she gets angry. Really you can’t go wrong with this series.
If you are like me and have been an avid fan since book one this is another great book and is leasing up to the long anticipated face off with the bears on Rigel.

Revisado: 12-03-21
This is a great Star Trek Trilogy in every way. The story is so good that I could not stop listening at times. The action starts in the first book and goes to the end. The character development was also fantastic. The main villain was well developed and the schemes of this Klingon were worthy of Romulans. This is a book all trekkers will love.

Excellent Comedy
Revisado: 08-18-21
I loved this book. I especially liked the barbs he took toward the woke idiocy that is trying to become mainstream. If you are offended over a book that makes fun of anyone dumb enough to get a “gender studies” degree then you will hate this one. Some of the comments I’ve read really shows that liberals don’t want anything heard that they disagree with. One guy wrote that he can’t believe audible would allow a book like this. Well it’s called free speech something that those woke people just can’t seem to tolerate. So if you believe that there are only two sexes, that liberals will destroy the country if not the world this book is for you. If you don’t believe in free speech or are easily offended I suggest something a little more tame like maybe MSNBC. Remember conservatives have a voice also!

Historia
Not long ago, the starship Freedom was a museum ship. A relic of a bygone era. A rusty old warship converted into a tourist trap. Then the aliens attacked. Now, once more, the legendary Freedom flies to war. The war is brutal. The enemy is merciless. The rahs, vicious arachnids from deep space, crave only one thing. Human flesh. Before this terror, Earth’s fleet crumbles. Starships burn. Millions die. But the Freedom still flies. James King, her gruff old commander, still fights.

I opened up my audible app hoping for the best, no the very best, no the bestest book of all time. If that is how you like to read then this will be the best book of all time. If you are like me and one adjective will work then you will want to skip this garbage. Sorry, I don’t know how else to put it. I have to give the narrator kudos though I would be rolling on the floor by now if I tried to narrate this. That’s why I gave the performance an extra star but you know the old saying, garbage in and garbage out. The first book was just as bad but had some hope for improvement, but book 2 is unbelievable. Don’t waste your time or money, this may be the worse book I’ve heard on Audible.

One of the Better of Today’s Sci-Fi
Revisado: 08-07-21
This series started out on the premise of regular people doing extraordinary things. It has developed into one of the better Sci-Fi series I have listened to on Audible. It pays homage to the sci-fi greats and is a great story. Yes there are some gaffs and some inaccuracies but hey, this is sci-fi it doesn’t have to be perfect just has to be a good dream. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes space opera this is a good one.

In the heat of battle, the Shiravans come to their rescue, turning the tide of the enemy invasion. This forms a tentative peace between the two races, but there are many more steps before reaching a full alliance.

I really like this story line. This series can go a lot of places good job! However there are some inaccuracies I cannot get over. Paleontologist study dinosaurs and ancient humans not archaeologists. It irritated me each time I heard it. There were others also but that was the most glaring.
