love Melanie's Kingdom stories!
Revisado: 04-13-25
this is a review of both since they were really 1 continous story.
The characters were compelling and made you want to know more almost immediately upon meeting them.
The bear reversal b/t Henry and the mountain kingdom was an interesting twist.
I have never read a book from this author that was boring or slow-paced. And she definitely has the cliffhanger at the end of the chapter- making you want to read 1 more chapter down to a fine art!

A touch of computer keys, a blast of heat, and suddenly the Murry twins, Sandy and Dennys, are gasping in a shimmering desert land. If only the brothers had normal parents, not a scientist mother and a father who experiments with space and time travel. If only the Murry twins had noticed the note on the door of their mother's lab: Experiment In Progress. Please Keep Out. But it's too late for regrets.

all 4 were fabulous
Revisado: 04-03-25
I have read these books many times over the years. I never get tired of them. I read them to my children. And if I ever have grandchildren, I will read them to them when they are old enough. I am 64 years old and these stories, to me , are in a category like CS Lewis' Narnia series- timeless.

Worse, she has a trapped demon on her hands, and if anyone discovers she hasn't quite managed to cast it out, she will be made to suffer consequences worse than death. The summoning requires Victoriana to journey to the newly revealed Aching Monastery and there to search for and recover the fabled Cup of Tears on behalf of her order. But her order is not the only one seeking this relic

surprises at everyturn!
Revisado: 04-02-24
I rarely write reviews but I really had to with this book. I started it thinking that I was not going to like the whole demon/Saint thing because those stories tend to be predictable and people often don't know what they are stirring up when they write or read this. But, this story surprised me. and there were so many layers to reflect on throughout the story. the different Paladins reflected the virtues, but their sins reflected the 7 deadly sins. and the story made me think of the Pharisees in the Bible who were so righteous they couldn't recognize the Messiah ( or didn't want to) showing how virtue can be twisted to be a tool against ourselves. But all of this was layered in a really interesting and suspenseful story that even included romance in the twists and turns of the story. a fascinating and enjoyable listen that kept me glued to the tale as I waited breathlessly to see how it would unfold.

In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Revisado: 06-13-21
I couldn't stop listening! This should be a tv series! ( if you can get a director who won't mess it up the way , the Narnia books and Wrinkle in time were messed up)The whole family could watch. it was clean, exciting, suspenseful and had all the qua lities to keep an audience engaged. My husband rolled his eyes at my listening to this around the house as I did chores. but he also got caught up in the story and I was having to explain the various characters to him and he stsrted wanting me to fill him in on plot development.
The funny thing was that at first I wasn't sure that I would like this story bcs it didn't sound like anything that I usually like, but I had loved Melanie Cellier's ither works so I decided to gove it a go- and I am so glad I did.

Historia
Wally Roux is a teenage genius with a big imagination and a big heart, who just moved to Savannah, GA, from Maine with his mom, who adopted him when he was an infant. In this charming and sweet solo performance, Wally investigates what is causing a number of strange events and occurrences. He explores and gets lost within space-time - an infinite, indefinable, and mysterious void that you can’t see but when you slice into it you can feel it.

would have been great
Revisado: 09-10-19
the story is engaging with many unexpected twists and turns. But, language is awful! I originally thought this was something I could listen to with my 8 year old nephew bcs he interested in this kind of thing. I am glad I listened to it first! The unnecessary use of the “f” bomb repeatedly let me know I could not listen to it with him. Sadly, many of our authors, including some of my favorites, insert this into their literature. My mother always told me that a truly literate person could find other descriptive words to use to convey the meaning intended.
