Historia
All Reyna and Kianthe want is to open a bookshop that serves tea. Worn wooden floors, plants on every table, firelight drifting between the rafters… all complemented by love and good company. Thing is, Reyna works as one of the Queen’s private guards, and Kianthe is the most powerful mage in existence. Leaving their lives isn’t so easy. But after an assassin takes Reyna hostage, she decides she’s thoroughly done risking her life for a self-centered queen. Meanwhile, Kianthe has been waiting for a chance to flee responsibility–all the better that her girlfriend is on board.

Persephone is the Goddess of Spring by title only. The truth is, since she was a little girl, flowers have shriveled at her touch. After moving to New Athens, she hopes to lead an unassuming life disguised as a mortal journalist. Hades, God of the Dead, has built a gambling empire in the mortal world and his favorite bets are rumored to be impossible. After a chance encounter with Hades, Persephone finds herself in a contract with the God of the Dead and the terms are impossible: Persephone must create life in the Underworld or lose her freedom forever.

Reads like YA
Revisado: 08-04-24
I kept hearing that this was a good book and it kept popping up on my recommendations because I enjoy fantasy novels. However, this is a urban fantasy with the main character Persephone being about to graduate college and takes place in the moment world. I could not stand her character she complains a lot, is very entitled and very bratty. She likes to say I'm a regular person I'm not a goddess blah blah blah but simultaneously demands things from other people and again very entitled, judgmental and overall annoying. Throughout the book she complains about minor conflicts get mentioned over and over and over again one of which is her mother. Because of this I expected her mother to have a larger role in the book because she is mentioned as a conflict almost every chapter but nothing happens until the end of the novel. The romantic tension doesn't make much sense, and feels rushed. Overall I advise manage your expectations. I think I would have felt more satisfied knowing it is a much lighter read than FBAA

Historia
In January 2019, culture writer Anne Helen Petersen set the internet on fire with her viral BuzzFeed essay diagnosing “millennial burnout” - a chronic state of stress and exhaustion that’s become a “base temperature” for young people today. Now, she continues this generation-defining conversation in a brand-new format, interviewing millennials around the country about their own deeply personal experiences with burnout, and the culture that creates it.

Not what I thought
Revisado: 03-17-22
The book is just the author interviewing people about how they experience burnout. It doesn't talk about science or what do to about burnout. It was fine. I listened cause I didn't have anything else to do.

Historia
Sixteen-year-old Eva is a princess, born with the magick of blood and marrow - a dark and terrible magick that hasn't been seen for generations in the vibrant but fractured country of Myre. Its last known practitioner was Queen Raina, who toppled the native khimaer royalty and massacred thousands, including her own sister, eight generations ago, thus beginning the Rival Heir tradition.

Hated this book. She just took other people's ideas and gave them her own names.
