Thrillingly Satisfying, Every Story Masterfull
Revisado: 04-23-24
THERE IS NO RACISM IN THIS BOOK, contrary to another reviewer’s review. Vivid, fascinating characters fill these timeless mysteries. Chesterton’s masterly welding of phycology and philosophic method of revealing truth will delight even readers unacquainted with mysteries. Father Brown Christ-like humility is delightful, endearing, and instructive. These tales are a true testament that saints are more interesting than sinners.

Historia
As we all know, and as many of our well-established textbooks have argued for decades, the Inquisition was one of the most frightening and bloody chapters in Western history, Pope Pius XII was anti-Semitic and rightfully called "Hitler's Pope", the Dark Ages were a stunting of the progress of knowledge to be redeemed only by the secular spirit of the Enlightenment, and the religious Crusades were an early example of the rapacious Western thirst for riches and power. But what if these long-held beliefs were all wrong?

Historia
At the front of a middle-school classroom in Oklahoma, a boy named Khosrou (whom everyone calls "Daniel") stands, trying to tell a story. His story. But no one believes a word he says. To them he is a dark-skinned, hairy-armed boy with a big butt whose lunch smells funny; who makes things up and talks about poop too much.

For once a book of true hope
Revisado: 12-07-23
Daniel is able, in his distinctive way, to write a book with sadness without it being a sad book. He weaves the story together, the sad, the beautiful, the gross, the funny, and the inspiring into a his own Persian rug of a story, all the better for its flaws. And when we step back at the end? We see a miraculously beautiful picture of Gods love and mercy, as well as the uplifting faith of those who love him.
So thank you Daniel, for a truly hopeful book, and Mrs. Nayeri, for her insane faith, may she receive her reward.

Protestants should read this!
Revisado: 06-27-23
I’m a Protestant pastor and I think this is a topic that all Christians need to think about much more deeply. The chapter about the Biblical case was well argued and convincing.

Historia
Set in the pre-Christian world of Glome on the outskirts of Greek civilization, it is a tale of two princesses: the beautiful Psyche, who is loved by the god of love himself, and Orual, Psyche's unattractive and embittered older sister, who loves Psyche with a destructive possessiveness. Her frustration and jealousy over Psyche's fate sets Orual on the troubled path of self-discovery. Lewis's last work of fiction, this is often considered his best by critics.

Genius Storytelling, Beautifully Read
Revisado: 08-07-18
If you ever wondered whether C. S. Lewis is an author of true genius, read this myth retold. It contains unforced religious themes, a deep anatomy of the human condition, and a compelling female protagonist to hold our interest throughout. Beautiful!
