Historia
Aspen is a Norm. A non-magic. A human. And in the magically hidden boroughs of New York City, that's a quick way to wind up dead. Or worse. So instead of magic, Aspen relies on her skills as a thief to stay alive. She didn't plan to get caught stealing from Lucien Dunadine, one of the strongest members on the Council of Mages. She really didn't plan on him blackmailing her into being his apprentice. But with the Council demanding Lucien present a candidate for a competition to become their newest Mage, neither one of them has much choice.

Love the narrator.
Revisado: 01-31-24
if, like me, you are only able to listen to certain narrators due to mouth noises enraging you, this is the narrator for you. The story is good as well, but with Audible, it's the narrators that can make or break a book.

Historia
Bobbi-Jo Barker has been in love with the wrong man for years - a man who doesn't fit into the perfect, controlled life she's created; a man who broke her heart and nearly destroyed her. So the fact that he's back in town shouldn't matter, because he's all wrong for her, or so she thinks....

Listening just for the voice of the narrator.
Revisado: 04-25-22
I heard one book by this narrator, and was so relieved to find someone with a pleasing voice!!! A narrator can make or break a book, and I have sensitive ears that reacts poorly to gross sounds like spittle popping, heavy breathing, etc. This narrator is literally worth her weight in gold!! Not my normal genre of story, but I would listen to her read the dictionary lol. I love listening to Audible books while working, so between this series being included in the Plus Catalog and the narrator being amazing... it's a perfect combination. 10 out of 10 recommend 😊

Love KF Breene!!!
Revisado: 03-02-22
This is an amazing, much anticipated sequel to one of my favorite Breene storylines. One heck of a cliffhanger, but what else can we expect of the author that loves to torment us 🤣🤣!! I loved the male voice, but the woman narrating had some hard S sounds that I almost couldn't get through. I don't think it was her voice causing it, but the production quality Audible put out. Either way, the story was enough to make me push through it, can't wait for book 4!!

Couldn't finish due to narrator.
Revisado: 12-29-21
I wanted to finish it, but the narrator killed my ears with her hard S-sound. I couldn't get passed the 6th chapter. A narrator can really make or break a good story and unfortunately, this one was broken for me.
