Historia
Sci-fi meets eco-fiction in this simply amazing story about the world we know and don't know. A gripping fast-paced adventure that involves a growing relationship between a baby right whale named Otis and the young marine biologist, Carly, that can read his mind. This high seas adventure involves many of the modern issues we all face, from the destruction of our seas, the politicians who shield the acts of destruction, and how the system can be changed with a little guts.

A whale, some mindreading, and a whole lot more

I did receive a free audio download. While I rarely use audio downloads (as this older woman prefers books to hold as she is reading), I found this an interesting experience. The story, however, meandered a bit too much for me. There are so many elements in it that I found myself wandering sometimes. And I was never quite sure who this was written for - what age groups might find this compelling enough to do the hard work of listening. However, it is with the structure and content of the book that I find a little fault. The narration never got in the way of my understanding. Indeed, I rarely noticed it and that is what, in my professional opinion as a writer, actor, and sometime narrator myself, makes for an excellent job. It is often the case that the narrator churns out accent after accent, varies tempo and tone too much, and that impedes the smooth reading of a story. This was not the case here.
