Historia
When Sylvester, the Duke of Salford, first meets Phoebe Marlow, he finds her dull and insipid. She thinks he is insufferably arrogant. But when a series of unforeseen events leads them to be stranded together in a lonely country inn, they are both forced to reassess their hastily formed opinions, and they begin to discover a new-found liking and respect for each other. But what Sylvester doesn’t know is that Phoebe is about to publish a novel - a novel in which all London will recognize him as the villainous ‘Count Ugolino’

Would you listen to Sylvester again? Why?
This is one of my favorite Georgette Heyer novels, read many times, and have already listened to this audio version twice. The plot and characterizations are engaging and highly amusing. Fortunately, the wonderful narration by Nicholas Rowe enhances the genius of the writing and brings humanity to the customs and culture of regency England.

Historia
Lilith Davenant has ample reason to detest Julian Wyndhurst, Marquess of Brandon: He's exactly the kind of man who hastened the demise of her profligate husband, and the debt he owed to Julian has forced her to an engagement with a wealthy suitor for the sake of supporting her beloved nieces and nephews. Besides that, Lord Julian somehow manages to ignite disturbing...feelings...she's never felt before!

A Loretta Chase Gem
Revisado: 09-05-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
A Loretta Chase novel that showcases her genius for witty dialogue and realistic character creation! The romantic path for Julian Wyndhurst, the 'knave' and the emotionally guarded Lilith Davenant is full of challenge, simmering sexual chemistry, and touching personal growth.

He's a reclusive writer whose imagination creates chilling horror novels. She's a down-on-her-luck actress reduced to staging kids' puppet shows. He knows a dozen ways to kill his characters with his bare hands. She knows a dozen ways to kill an audience with laughs. But she's not laughing now.

Disappointing!
Revisado: 09-03-14
What would have made Heroes Are My Weakness better?
The creation of multiple puppet characters to represent the heroine's thoughts and emotions was distracting, slightly creepy, and weakened the overall story.
What could Susan Elizabeth Phillips have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Injected humor and more likable protagonists. Never warmed up to the heroine or hero, and thus just didn't care what happened to either.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
The performance was excellent. The narrator performed unique voices for multiple characters, and had great acting ability. However, the story was too weak to be retrieved by the performance.

Charming Story, but.....
Revisado: 08-12-14
Would you try another book from Kate Noble and/or Alison Larkin?
I have purchased everything Kate Noble has written. She is witty and original. However, the narration was a fail for me; overly sweet and coy.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Revealed?
The characterizations are engaging and tender.
How could the performance have been better?
A different narrator.

Dreadful Narration Pairing With Story
Revisado: 04-06-14
What would have made The Winter Bride better?
A narrator who could have brought a degree of gravitas to the story. This narrator's voice was light and childlike, very precious.
Would you ever listen to anything by Anne Gracie again?
No.
How could the performance have been better?
A different narrator, capable of a serious voice and able to perform male voices. This narrator made the story seem quite absurd and frivolous.

Revisado: 02-07-14
Where does Lord of Scoundrels rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is the best audiobook I've listened to, and I've listened to hundreds! The narrator, Kate Reading reads this book with great subtlety, capturing the intelligence, wit, and emotional life of the characters. I can't wait to listen to it again and again! Hopefully, Blackstone will bring us more audio renditions of Loretta Chase's novels with this superior narrator.

Wonderful Conclusion to the Romantic Huxtable Saga
Revisado: 07-12-13
Where does A Secret Affair rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is my favorite of the Huxtable family romances, and the one that ties together the unaddressed questions and disputes that are related in the earlier books.
What did you like best about this story?
Emotion, emotion, emotion! A sweet and moving love story for two wounded and misunderstood people.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The moments when Elliott and Constantine confront each other after 10 years of estrangement, and how the Duchess saves the day!
