Historia
Boyd Varty had an unconventional upbringing. He grew up on Londolozi Game Reserve in South Africa, a place where man and nature strive for balance, where perils exist alongside wonders. Founded more than 80 years ago as a hunting ground, Londolozi was transformed into a nature reserve beginning in 1973 by Varty’s father and uncle, visionaries of the restoration movement. But it wasn’t just a sanctuary for the animals; it was also a place for ravaged land to flourish again and for the human spirit to be restored.

It’s OK
Revisado: 11-06-18
I appreciated Saskia Maarleveld’s performance. She is a talented narrator who seamlessly switches between accents and paints a dramatic and intriguing picture with her voice. The story, however, was merely OK. I loved learning about the Alice Network - the nonfiction moments were the most exciting - but the intertwining of the two women’s lives was too cliche and convenient for me to remotely believe. Charlie was the more poorly developed character of the two. Overall, I give it a solid “meh.”

So many issues. So hard to listen to.
Revisado: 10-25-18
Maybe I’m not a Big Enough Fan of Fiddler, but this entire performance was painful for me to listen to. Not only was I not pulled in by the chapter excerpts, but I did not find the musical performances at all inspiring. I agree with a couple other reviewers that the men were better than the women. And despite her success and talent, Al Silber’s vocal performance on this recording was not her best work. Disappointing.

Weird pronunciation!
Revisado: 10-03-18
My six year old is very distracted by the incorrect pronunciation of Rosamond, which changed from the pronunciation used in Volumes I and II.
Additionally, some stories end with a recitation of craft instructions or recipes. This interrupts the flow for my kids who like to listen to story after story. Overall, other Nate the Great compilations outperform this one.

Disappointing
Revisado: 07-28-18
Everything about this felt “meh.” The writing. The characters. The narration. The story. Life is short. Read / listen to good books. I’d give this one a hard pass.
