Historia
Join Joseph Pearce as he explores the great theological depth of the most popular work of literature in the 20th century, J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings. Despite the absence of any direct mention of Christ or the Catholic Church, Tolkien described his work as "fundamentally religious and Catholic." He was able to infuse his fictional world with theological orthodoxy through his creation of myth and a world order. Endowing his protagonists with Christian virtues, he also incorporated themes of grace and mercy.

A very well crafted analysis of LOTR.

I feel it is an intensive look at Tolkien's faith as told through his stories.

Historia
Chava is a golem, a woman made of clay, who can hear the thoughts and longings of those around her and feels compelled by her nature to help them. Ahmad is a jinni, a restless creature of fire, once free to roam the desert but now imprisoned in the shape of a man. Fearing they’ll be exposed as monsters, these magical beings hide their true selves and try to pass as human - just two more immigrants in the bustling world of 1900s Manhattan. Brought together under calamitous circumstances, their lives are now entwined - but they’re not yet certain of what they mean to each other.

Great story

I cannot express how much I have enjoyed this book and its predecessor. Helen Wecker had a great and novel idea. Her writing keeps you engaged the whole time. I'm hoping for a 3rd book in the future.

Historia
Helene Wecker's dazzling debut novel tells the story of two supernatural creatures who appear mysteriously in 1899 New York. Chava is a golem, a creature made of clay, brought to life by a strange man who dabbles in dark Kabbalistic magic. When her master dies at sea on the voyage from Poland, she is unmoored and adrift as the ship arrives in New York Harbor. Ahmad is a jinni, a being of fire, born in the ancient Syrian Desert. Trapped in an old copper flask by a Bedouin wizard centuries ago, he is released accidentally by a tinsmith in a Lower Manhattan shop.

Best original fantasy I have read in a long time.
Revisado: 07-24-20
Ms. Wecker's story and Mr. Guidall's performance seem to be perfectly meshed. The interaction between all the characters seems to follow a believable logic. Most enjoyment I've had in a book for a long time. I look forward to the sequel.

Historia
Golan Trevize, former councilman of the First Foundation, has chosen the future, and it is Gaia. A superorganism, Gaia is a holistic planet with a common consciousness so intensely united that every dewdrop, every pebble, every being, can speak for all - and feel for all. It is a realm in which privacy is not only undesirable, it is incomprehensible. But is it the right choice for the destiny of mankind? While Trevize feels it is, that is not enough. He must know.

I think it's read by a robot.

The story gives good closure to the series. It is interesting and I would have difficulty "putting it down." However, the reader seems to lack any emotion. I could get the same results by telling my Kindle to read it to me.
